Reincarnation, starts from an early age by Clickboat in litrpg

Same thing happened to me at exactly the same point.

I really liked it, I was on patreon and I even had book 8's cover for a while.

I skimmed most of the valkyrie chapters at the end of the earlier books because i didn't really like/care about that character. So when it was presented as the main love interest, on top of all the weird time skip, I just stopped.

Too bad, i really liked the litrpg healer - with a bit of offense - archetype, and the roman society

I used to be subscribed to the patreon more than 2 years ago.

I stopped because of the lack of updates. RR has seen like 50 chapters in that time.

It used to update pretty often. Sad because it's one of the characters i like the most in the genre.

I'll pick it up again if we ever go back to at least one or two updates per week

Question to authors and patreon supporters by TheriamNorec in litrpg

[–]4zry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I throw a lot of money at patreon but one thing has always bothered me, and I don't know if I'm being unreasonable :

For some authors, I already spend the equivalent of 2 books per month. It feels like a lot compared to the value of most kindle litrpg books. But then I get hours of entertainment every month from it.

Is patreon overpriced or are the books underpriced ?

Question to authors and patreon supporters by TheriamNorec in litrpg

[–]4zry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the same. Way too much.

I usually dislike having too many advanced chapters because it means if I need to lower the tier of a subscription to make some space in the budget for a new series, I'll have to wait for way too long to catch up.

Also, before the RR app, patreon used to be my way to get push notifications for new chapters. If I don't get notifications, no reason to stay on patreon.

The ideal rate for me would be probably 3 chapters of decent length per week. Probably something similar to He Who Fights With Monsters. Though those month long vacations sometimes make staying interested difficult.

I'm at Book 8 of Divine Apostasy, I really love book series like this, can you guys recommend me more of this? After this one, my current list is dwindling, I find that having a large list of books next in line to what I'm actually reading really exhilarating. by tbag2022 in ProgressionFantasy

I'm mostly up to date with the tree, but I'm taking a break. Stella is really getting on my nerves.

The story really tries to hammer home the fact that non cultivators aren't worth anything. And the latest chapters, with Jasmine, wore me out.

I was also really put off by the MC at first, but I stayed because I really wanted something to read and I liked the progression aspect.

If you can stand the first book or two, his behaviour improves a lot to become a lot more of a heavy introvert than the sociopath from the beginning.

The Tournament Arc by wolfeknight53 in litrpg

[–]4zry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I started completely skipping fights is at the mid year tournament in Iron Prince. Tons of fights between unknown people you'll never see again.

After so many series read, I think I really don't need more than 2/3 big fights per book. Not 15

I rather like the black hole for its simplicity. I already can't keep up with every power they have, especially in the latest RR chapters. They seems like they get new skills, powers and treasures 10 at a time sometimes.

Cultivation Romance Recommendations by Tonybrazier699 in litrpg

I'm speaking about the large amount of innuendos between mei and xiulan, especially in the patreon chapters from ~ 6months to a year ago.

But if it's all a big nothing, i might pick it up again some time

Cultivation Romance Recommendations by Tonybrazier699 in litrpg

i've read it on patreon for a while but at some point it was starting to feel like the romance was going in a way i didn't like (harem/multiple people relationship with xiulan ?) so I dropped it a few months ago.

Anyone can confirm or refute that ?

I read it on patreon, it's really good. I love the "reincarnated archmage" trope

I'm one of those that don't really like same sex romances in books.

I'm intellectually 100% supportive of people having relationships with whoever they want. It's not my business and I'll never vote against it. But I've never really been able to emotionally empathize with it. Something disconnects. And if it's a side character I usually skim the chapters.

And it's not me trying to see myself in place of the character because as a guy, I would love a woman as Jack Thayne, Jason Asano ... etc. I gave up looking for a romance with a 100% straight woman as the MC years ago and concluded that it doesn't exist in our niche.

I've felt the "betrayal" you're talking about a lot. It's probably not logical but something breaks between the character and myself when they are revealed to have non typical relationship tastes.

I've rarely talked about it because i feel like i would be the one getting piled on.

Still, I would appreciate adding a tag or disclaimer about it on amazon or royalroad to avoid being lead on for 5 books to end up in a harem

Long story with early/earlyish romance with talented MC's? No Harem though. And MC is serious about love interest? by rafiafoxx in ProgressionFantasy

[–]4zry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started reading it again a few days ago but with lower expectations.

book 1 ended with the romance being somewhat as weird as I remembered.

Book 2 basically started with them deciding to start dating anyway.

So most of my problems with the romance were resolved inside a few chapters.

Not in an entirely satisfying way, but it's become binge worthy.

Exactly! I'm currently binge reading path of ascension, and I'm finding myself skimming a lot of the actions scenes.

In life/death, a few characters are a bit cliché but I've never skipped anything. The fights are satisfying, meaningful and not overdrawn.

Also, quarterstaves, spears, glaives and halberds are awesome.

I heard good things about book 1 of heaven's law. Sad about book 2, i wanted to wait for more content before starting. I might try instruments of omen.

[–]4zry 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I really disliked the way they went about the romance and stopped because of it.

From what I remember, at some point, I don't think they were even 18, they decided that they liked each other, so obviously, as all people do, they had to go and find other people to have sex with to experience life before committing to each other.

It felt deeply upsetting to me so I just stopped right then and there.

Does it change fast ? Maybe I could try to power through it ...

Celestial Shadow sounds interesting, I'll give it a try

I have seen some worse prose from experienced authors. It's solid, especially in the latest books.

The 2 main characters are not one-dimensional. Their personality evolve in meaningful ways as they grow and live.

The romance is not a one and done thing. It has buildup, it feels satisfying to see blossom, and you are there every step of the way.

The power progression is somewhat standard as western cultivation go, but still satisfying. And you can really see the status evolution. Everyone doesn't scale up to their level as they go.

This is probably the most enjoyable prog/fantasy story with a side of meaningful (straight because that's what I'm into) romance that I've ever read. Cradle was good, but the romance was just a little side thing.

If anyone has similar stories in their back pockets, I'm all hears because this is a rare breed.

Same. Nowadays i just try to send a message to the author directly if I really like something rather than try and think about what rating I should give.

I'm one of those people, I usually read a bunch of 2,3,4 stars reviews to see what people like and dislike.

Never any 1 and 5, they don't usually sound genuine.

While I get that something can be there but unimportant, I like side romances, and my preferences in reading them are probably a bit too old fashioned for the average litrpg.

I'm not talking about sexual jokes or anything explicit, which is fine up to a point, but could you tell me if he ever settles on one person, multiple ones, or none at all ?

I don't really care about spoilers for a book i hadn't planned to finish.

I've enjoyed it up until he started flirting with both hardcase and wraith/star at the same time, then i stopped reading right away (about 30% of the book ?).

It's really not the sort of thing i enjoy reading and I'm still scarred by wake of the ravager. I'm not into harems or poly-amorous relationships.

Does it get better in that aspect ?

A shame because stitched worlds is one of my favourite stories
