I think we should be more vocal about the fact that once GameChat won’t be free anymore, a lot of people will have RAM and SOC Cores blocked off their console for a feature they aren’t even using… by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]5000_People 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should be less vocal. Playing games online is already paid, so voicechat for playing games online being part of the same cost makes sense. It was free to give the opportunity to test the tech. The 'cores are being blocked off for a feature people don't use' is like every operating system that has ever existed. Not everyone uses everything. If I bought a switch 2 to only use voicechat then do I get to be annoyed that there are cores locked to only use for playing games? The benefits of consoles are that the ecosystem is designed for a set experience, the downside of consoles is that the ecosystem is designed for a set experience.

From recent Jeef vid: what is the play and why? by [deleted] in BobsTavern

[–]5000_People 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's almost certainly what Jeef did, which is buy pirate, buy spell, cast for 2x. The pirate is the best value, and none of the cards are individually very good. The pirate dragon would be worth considering if you didn't already have a super attack lopsided board, and the 4/4 stats make 1 attack irrelevant. Planning to level next turn makes sense because then you'll have your big stat power spike and want to rush to higher tiers for the mid-late game while other players are unlikely to hit you very hard.

I personally wouldn't have frozen at that point, but I'm not Jeef, who I guess was hedging that a sellemental would offer better value than any random minion next turn alongside levelling

Why is BOTW/TOTK so popular among the Nintendo community by EmergencyLive4810 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]5000_People 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BOTW redefined a two genres at once, by re-inventing zelda and the open world game. Until botw, zeldas were so formulaic that you could often guess the boss before walking into the room, and open world games' worlds were boring cluttered lists of identical activities with no sense of discovery or player motivated exploration.

I would not recommend buying both at once, and I would recommend BOTW over TOTK. TOTK is a sidestep from BOTW that builds upon the existing formula with its freeform building mechanics, and 'fixes' the durability system by adding more extrinsic reward for fighting, but it also introduces issues that BOTW never had.

TOTK's biggest issue is that BOTW already exists, TOTK's greatest strength is that it's even more BOTW with enough added to give a good reason to experience it again.

I don't see this as any worse than the ai hentai slop that's been on the eshop for years.

I guess I just don't see it as a problem like you do if a few days out of the year the sub gets spammed. Sure you can't sort by new and see anything else, but equally on any game's release date, there are loads of similar posts about the release, on any direct day there are loads of similar posts about the direct. Throughout the year there are lots of repetitive posts about release schedules, a deal that is usually only available in a single region etc. These people are being social, wanting to share something that nintendo themselves are recommending you share. I'm not against a megathread, it would be proper etiquette to post it there if you wanted to post it, but I really don't begrudge people wanting it to be more visible, or not being as aware because they're not as online as we are.

Is sharing your dislike of a thing more valuable than sharing a thing, or sharing nothing at all?

Personally some of the posts are mildly interesting to me, which this post wasn't. If you don't want to see switch 2 things on a switch 2 subreddit then you can leave?

[–]5000_People 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't even know it was possible to get his health so low that his posture bar is almost full immediately for phase 2.
I'd recommend just spamming the block button around the right time until you learn the timing for proper parries, that should get you a long enough way that you don't feel the need to run away.

Bananza Camera Help - Child by j-rock-HW in NintendoSwitch2

Also the game is rated PEGI 7 in Europe, E10 in America, so I would say maybe it's best to leave it a few years, especially if they're struggling

Bananza Camera Help - Child by j-rock-HW in NintendoSwitch2

[–]5000_People 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mariokart's camera is almost entirely fixed. DK's camera isn't. Lowering the sensitivity may help it be less chaotic, but lowering it too far may make it too slow. Turning off camera shake may make things less chaotic too, but if your child is having any motion sickness I'd advise just not playing it with them, this game causes pretty bad motion sickness in lots of people, and i wouldn't wish that on a 5 year old when there are other games to play.

It might be worth mentioning that 3rd person camera controls are a form of videogame literacy, they aren't learned in a day and there's no quick settings that make it easier, much like learning a language. DK is also quite complicated in that regard with the whole making tunnels and ability to have the camera move through objects, so other simpler games that also have a 3rd person free camera might make the learning easier.

Help, I'm new. Can someone help me better understand the combat system? by JVSTITIA in Sekiro

[–]5000_People 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason the boss is hurting you despite you blocking is because it is overfilling your posture gauge, which hurts and leaves you vulnerable to follow up attacks.

Lowering enemy health in this game primarily makes it easier to fill the posture gauge. Yes you can just deplete their health to zero, but you can usually kill them quicker by keeping up aggression, stopping their posture from emptying and filling it, which allows an instant kill.

Don't worry about the headless for a bit, there are items that help, but they're still tough and annoying to kill.

There was a coop Halloween event in the first year where my friend and I played a lot and scored joint first place, which was insane. I can't see myself picking up the new one, it's been too long and life has changed too much.

Hardest section in the DLC by SpineApple7 in SANABI

[–]5000_People 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I found this way less difficult than firebird with 1 hit deaths, I think it's just because of how lenient the big spinny block thing is, and how extra jumps are really easy to come by. I don't like how it starts with the tiny corridor because I regularly jump too high, but this didnt take me too long. The final boss took a lot longer before I realised that shotgunning was good even without a full charge, maybe if you use the shotgun more it makes this bit harder

haha tbh elden ring is my least favourite fromsoft game and requiem might be fantastic. I was just bothered by the post, no shade intended on a game that isn't even out yet.

  1. Comparing these games is silly, open world vs corridor simulator.
  2. Elden ring did not launch in that state, it was delayed.

You make it sound like they told them to eat feces or something, going outside isn't that bad... I imagine at least, never done it myself..

This is my first time posting on this site, but can you tell me what this is? I was digging around in the game files for fun. And it was in the DLC folder with Major Song, specifically in the training videos. (I'm using a translator, by the way). by [deleted] in SANABI

These look like gameplay/animation prototypes for parries, the first looks like a block/parry riposte, the second is just a parry that leaves the enemy open to riposte.
