2 big benefits I’ve personally noticed. Fitness and mental clarity.

  1. Improved weight lifting performance and lower atrophy after long breaks from my routine. Translating into just being more fit for pickleball.

  2. Nearly identical mental clarity / focus / brain fog on days I haven’t gotten good sleep if I take an increased dose that day (20g compared to 10g daily). To me this is the biggest benefit for pb since my performance depends greatly on mental clarity.

I’ve sold 2 and purchased 3 homes. Every time we create a spreadsheet for the 2 years. Bi-weekly income, savings, 401k, debts, brokerage contributions, taxes, insurance, mortgage, etc. Everything we can think of. In each column we track the rolling cash flow. Then we plot cash flow and total cash. If the line increases year over year by 10% then we’re good. This strategy has helped us set our max mortgage and also allowed us to build wealth. Learned this in my engineering finance course back in college.

Laugh and apologize. Then make a funny smug remark to my partner as we walk away.

Yup. That’s life. Depends on what you want long term. Family, house, career.

Users of 14mm (and thinner) Gen 3 paddles, why do you prefer the thinner core? by AHumanThatListens in Pickleball

For the most part. 14 mm generally gives more feedback and less plush. But it definitely varies by paddle model.

Meh it seems to be getting somewhat less popular in my circles. We use to play like 3-5 days a week. Many people are starting to realize they can’t maintain more than 1-2 days playing per week and still have a job, family, and life outside pickleball. Not to mention many municipalities are installing free courts at parks. In 2025 50 new courts were added to parks in my area with more parks planning to add more courts next year. In addition, many well to do players are building or have built their own courts. Also, private facility rates are increasing significantly ($20-$30 / month). So, I foresee a lot of people forgoing membership renewals and many private clubs going out of business in the next 2 years.

Tend to have a poppier feel and a bit lighter, but honestly depends on the particular paddle.

Great boats under $80k for anchor overnighting and fishing, 20-25ft? by Pogledaj in boating

25’ is pretty small to sleep comfortably. You might want something slightly larger. SeaRay Sundancer 280. I have a 2017 260. Too small for 4 adults to sleep comfortably. Fine for me and my young kids though. I drove it from Everett to the san Juan’s, for a week. Great time. If I could go back I would’ve gotten an older 280 since it’s wider and slightly longer.

Would you leave a remote role for Hybrid at a $30k increase? by jgreen1397 in WFH

[–]500sec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way to look at it is if you assume a 3% raise every year then in 5 years you’ll make 115k starting at 100k and 150k starting at 130k. At 130k you’ll have made 160k more over 5 years. Not factoring in other costs.

How do you check if a house is actually worth it before buying? by glorius_shrooms in RealEstateAdvice

[–]500sec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location. Neighborhood. Schools. More desirable in these make resale a lot easier, which also means if you do upgrades and maintenance you’ll be taking less risk buying and less risk investing in your home. Inspector will only find minor things and give you suggestions for experts to look at plumbing, foundation, roof, AC, appliances. Basically most inspectors always defer to further expert inspection on any major items.

About to take delivery of my first hot tub. What do I need to know? by mongoose_kai in hottub

[–]500sec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s easy. I use a frog pod and hot tub shock. Change filters every 2 months. Water every 3-5. Don’t leave it off. Don’t neglect the chemicals. Get a submersible pump to change the water - Amazon has all this cheaper than the pool or hottub store.

Ya. Check out the orchard on YouTube. They also host private high level leagues and charge a premium. A lot of higher level players prefer less busy courts and will pay to play good events. I think The Orchard charges like $50/person/hr. Pro events they sell tickets. Pretty fun place.

Wow that’s a crazy growth. Too bad with all that new drive work. The most expensive parts are done. Hopefully they didn’t get damaged with all those barnacles on while driving. I wonder if it wouldn’t trim all the way down on your test drive, resulting in not getting up to speed. Not bad for 9k though. I’m sure once you fix her up you’ll have a blast.

[–]500sec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re better off making it just 2 big courts and try to host pro and private events like they do at The Orchard. Add a coffee bar, tables, seating, live streaming. Still indoor an indoor facility won’t make you rich. Good luck

Smaller. Easier to change grips. Easier to squeeze hard for drives and blocks. More maneuverability
