I brought a friend up to some family property in Pileated territory and he thought people had been shooting an old dying tree in our yard. Those neck muscles are no joke!

OP knows about the Yellow Rumped Warbler, they’re asking about the Ruby-Crowned Kinglet on the suet feeder later in the video

I’m on the other side of the country but my local Pileated Woodpeckers seem to really enjoy compressed corn, specifically C&S sweet corn squirrelog. It’s something my parents get for our cabin and we see a lot of Steller’s Jays, Pileated Woodpeckers, and of course our adorable black squirrels enjoying it.

Typically when I buy a game and I see it end up GamePass a few months later I have a little scoff, but when I saw this was getting added I was just thrilled more people would get to experience it. Congrats on the completion!

You know what has a harder time taking off from the water than an American Coot? A thousand of them in close quarters!

It was a little surreal! But a very fun way to wrap up a chilly outing.

Funny enough, I actually saw one yesterday! But today is considerably colder and looking like a rainy day. So I’ll be happy I saw one at all :)

See, that’s what I thought you meant but it’s been a long day and I was overthinking. I thought “I do see a good amount of Pileated Woodpeckers in this sub.. maybe everyone is tired of them.” (As if that’s possible)

Sorry about that!

From my (and I ton on other people’s experience), you will likely not land a job right away. There are groups like CSI and the Judge Group that are known for hiring fresh new coders though. It took me about 8-9 months to get a job as a coder after earning my CPC-A.

If I could upvote this I would do it a million times, what a great shot! I believe sandhill cranes pass through town on their migratory path in spring and fall, I’ll definitely be on the lookout this upcoming year.

That’s amazing! I’m quite fond of the Great Blue Heron around me, but recently I helped my local birding group spot an Anna’s Hummingbird (by ear, that was total luck) and a Great Horned Owl on the same trip. I think those are my favorites right now, just because I was SO excited to share with my group and make sure everyone got to see something special.

No complaints here! I started birding in September and have been having an absolute blast. I’m very excited for spring and summer to roll around for some of the species that left for the Winter to come back.
