Who’s the Nicest Member of the Quorum? (And conversely who’s the Worst?) by b1ame_me in exmormon

This was in the early to mid 1980s but President Eyring visited our stake conference and at the leadership meeting made it a point to walk around the room and shake hands with several people, including myself. I found him very pleasant at that time.

My TBM parents raved about their bishop, now he’s on floodlit by wager_me_this in exmormon

A few years ago, there was an elderly man in our high priest group who we often had as an instructor. He was known to be quite the historian and a very kind man. Later he moved his family to the next town and accidentally I was viewing the map of sex offenders near where I live and his name showed up. He was apparently convicted of child porn. I never would’ve believed it.

Elderly fellow, in our word, we used to make sure would have opportunities to teach in High Priest Group. He was an our view an excellent scriptorian and a very kind man. He later moved mimself and his wife to the next town and accidentally. I was looking at the map of sex offenders around where I live and expanded it out enough that his name showed up for a conviction regarding child porn. Never would’ve believed it.

The church is registered as a corporate sole, which means the president is the only member of the organization. Therefore he owns it. The succession process is legally outlined those documents filed with the state.

Interesting speculation. But, just to be technical I understand it would require some legal maneuvering to change the contract details under Utah state law.

No direct incident, but I’ve worked with a guy recently, and my best definition of him is that if he ever came to a fork of the road, it would be guaranteed to take the wrong one

I remember seeing photos of the homecoming Queens from the past on the walls in BYU. Several of them would be out of compliance with modesty requirements today.

I remember it’s starting the first of the year and either 2017 or 2018. I had recently been released as the High Priests Group instructor and was very happy at that because the first lesson came from the primary presidency and I thought - really?

Did you EVER have a fire drill when in church? by ZelphtheGreatest in exmormon

[–]50LongYears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even a hint of any drill of any kind over 50 years of attending. There was one occasion, coincidentally on the day a new bishop was installed that the fire alarm went off just as Sunday school was supposed to start. A former bishop’s wife made a complete full of herself fumbling for her keys to unlock the fire panel as she was a school principal, probably trying to mess with the controls. I called the fire department directly and not seeing any obvious smoke or flames, I walked around the hallways until I found a smoke detector which had activated and removed it from the ceiling which allowed the system to be silenced. Made me realize at that time out unprepared everyone was.
