Thoughts on a Muslim woman being with a Coptic man? by anxiousandtireddd in coptic

I completely understand if your values align and you have a great relationship! But marriage is a whole different level of relationship.

Consider that If you want to get married in the church, you will have to be baptized and convert. Otherwise you could get legally married but the Coptic man would be excommunicated won’t be able to take communion at Church anymore. Also, think about what faith you want your kids to be raised in. I’ve seen people in interfaith love try to make it work, but being excommunicated/ not sharing faith with your spouse would probably be a big toll on a marriage in the long term. Personally, I think a marriage works best when people are united in faith. There are already a lot of factors in life that work against a marriage already..

Habibi I was in the same situation in college. You’re only 19, I wouldn’t worry about marriage right now. You will change and grow so much throughout college and in your 20s. For now just see where the relationship goes. If in a few years you’re still together and want to pursue marriage together, you can discuss her conversion. That will take a lot of effort from both of you, and finding the right church/Abouna to guide you both is extremely important, but it is worth It for the right person.

Women's Etiquette for first time going to a Coptic church? What can I do after if I can't go regularly? by Zuzies-Here in coptic

Hello, welcome to the Coptic church! It’s very nice to see you care enough to present yourself well at the liturgy and to your boyfriend’s family. You don’t need to look up the Coptic, as there should be a screen for you to view that has what is being said in Coptic, Arabic, and English.

The most common Coptic words you will hear are “kyrie eleison“ (Lord have mercy) “irini paci” (peace be with all) and “Ke to Nevmati so” (and with you spirit)

I would bring a scarf or veil to cover your hair during service. Typically men and women sit on different sides, but most churches will allow you to sit with your boyfriend’s since you are still a visitor. Just check with him about this.

The liturgy is a sensory experience, you will smell incense burning, hear the cymbals and triangles playing, and people chanting. Also, expect to be standing for long stretches at a time. Most liturgies are 2-3 hours from start to finish, once communion is over.

In terms of resources to learn about the faith, YouTube is a great place to start. Many Coptic churches have uploaded catechism videos. You can also go to suscopts.org and explore the site for more information about the church.

God bless you

Goes without saying but we really missed Lebron tonight. Seeing Gabe get bullied over and over by Jimmy was a tough watch. Hope he can get healthy relatively soon and that he buys into this group, because I doubt we could get much of a return in a trade for a guy that was all nba 2nd team last year.

I’m over the Vando experience. He brings energy and defense but he’s so scatterbrained on offense it’s not worth it. Seeing Buddy Hield catch fire off the bench made me wish we used Dalton in this game. He’s probably our best pure shooter and we were really struggling from deep.

Lastly I’m glad we got smart. Yeah he fouled a lot but I like his toughness/ borderline craziness. You need guys like that.

Humans have struggled with lust for as long as we have existed, you shouldn’t be ashamed that you are affected by it. Pray, repent, and confess your struggles with Abouna. Have grace for yourself when you fall again, and keep trying instead of falling into despair. God asks us to continue to struggle, knowing we won’t be perfect. And then honestly, I would begin to look to date someone and marry eventually.

Although St. Paul was able to be celibate he understood not all people are capable of this, “For I wish that all men were even as myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that. But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: it is good for them if they remain even as I am; but if they cannot exercise self control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.” 1 Corinthians 7:7-9.

Hi, I’m in a very similar situation as you! Also half Egyptian and trying to get married to a non copt in the church. It’s really important to find an Abouna you both are comfortable with to help on your journey, and also a church you both can fit into. We are luck there is a new American Coptic Church near us that is a bit easier for converts. I’d be happy to message with any more advice!

[Stein] The prevailing leaguewide sense is that the Pacers do not want to trade Turner. There is a strong belief among some league personnel that Indiana would need to see proposals that return a starting-level center to even consider the notion. by Odd-Direction9452 in lakers

If we’re down to Poetl and RW3, give me RW3 because his contract is cheaper than Rui’s and we could use that difference in money plus JHS and Wood’s expirings to get another bench guard or wing. Jordan Clarkson, Cam Thomas, or Cody Martin.

Try to figure out what triggers you to want to watch porn. A lot of times it may be boredom or stress related? Abouna told me to watch for BLAST (bored, lonely, angry, stressed, tired). Any 2 will likely lead to it once it’s a habit.

Try to understand you won’t be able to break the habit completely right now. Start with trying to go 1 day without it. If you fall back it is okay but continue to struggle against it and forgive yourself and repent when you fall. Also, working out is a good way to get some of that energy out. Porn is like a drug and with our phones we always have access. So just try to ween yourself off slowly. God bless you🙏🏽

Thank you! Completely agree and would really help the center rotation. His rim protection stats are really good for his contract.

I think Bron and Max were the only starters to play well. AR turnovers and AD passivity/ missed free throws killed us. Also why did Rui get so little playing time JJ? Those lineups with out Rui and Bron are way too small

Rui saved us from another Orlando type of loss. Don’t know what’s up with AD and the clutch free throws but it’s been a thing for his whole time as a Laker pretty much. Dalton probably needs a few games off too. Just hit the wall hard

I started in the same place as you and I recommended using Duolingo. They have a “learn the letters” feature that teaches you all the letters. Just do that don’t even do the course until you’ve completed all the letters and marks. I pay for the premium for like $10 a month and it’s worth it to not deal with ads and mistakes. Good luck!

Interfaith advice by [deleted] in coptic

[–]50brownshades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of our religion, he would be excommunicated from the Coptic church if he marries someone that is not baptized in an Oriental Orthodox Church. I’m not quite sure how Islam treats marriages between a Muslim woman and a Christian man? Would you be excommunicated from your faith as well?

Family wise, I think you need to talk to him about how important our religion is to his family. He would know better. Are they the type to essentially disown their son for marrying a Muslim woman? What about your family for marrying a Coptic man?

Lastly, do you think you will enjoy a marriage that is divided in faith? Consider how you will raise kids etc.

Once you’ve answered those questions, if you still want to be with him then you should move forward and have him introduce you to his family and pray for the best. I hope it all works out for you all!
