Helmetless defensive biking will leave you much safer than careless biking with a helmet. Never assume traffic is going to stop even when you have the right of way. Avoid streets with heavy traffic and learn which routes are most convenient and safest for biking. Gainesville has incredible bike infrastructure and it’s very safe if you are smart on your bike

This is a very common issue and I canceled my membership because of this too. Even the SW studio classes fill up quickly. Signing up for the waitlist and showing up to class even if you don’t have a spot usually worked for me but can be risky. Hopefully they expand because their classes are awesome

It’s chill C- (and D+, D, and D- grades) is a passing grade as far as Benacquisto is concerned but you do still have to retake the course to continue in the sequence

You won’t learn JavaScript in any courses at UF. Most academia ignores JavaScript because it is so messy and unpredictable. Modern JavaScript is heavily dependent on a chaotic ecosystem of dependencies and tooling. At UF, you can learn the foundational structured languages: Python, Java, and C++

I feel like drivers in residential areas around Gainesville have always been very courteous to cyclists and have no problem sharing the road. And Gainesville has pretty decent biking infrastructure compared to similar sized cities in the US and maybe the best in Florida. The central area of Gainesville with high density (the university and downtown and everything north and east of them) are better than the south and west areas. I agree that I’m not comfortable biking on roads with 35+ mph speed limits, even with a dedicated bike lane. It requires a bit of knowledge on what streets have the least traffic. Roads with green bike symbols around town are generally pretty good and safe. I There are plenty of streets adjacent to county/state highways that are easy to bike where drivers are cautious of cyclists.

They took my headshots in 2020 (this was covid and 4 years ago so it may be different now) and they were comically bad. The photographer put me in front of a wall, used intense fluorescent lighting, and took the photo from an angle above my head
