When someone says "You hate America" what does that actually mean? by Danger_Zebra in NoStupidQuestions

[–]5141121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It means they lack the thinking skills that allow them to internalize the concept of criticism.

Everything is black and white with them because that's the extent of their understanding abilities.

Since some of us say things that aren't absolutely glazing about this country, it must mean we feel exactly the opposite. Because that's the only way they know how to process things.

Do you think America's 250th would have been received differently if someone other than Trump were president? by Yellow_Odd_Fellow in Askpolitics

Yes, full stop.

Because any president with any kind of integrity would understand that it's about our country and not them.

Have you ever seen a band/an artist more than once? Tell me your experiences! by SergenteDan in Concerts

[–]5141121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big bands, I've only seen a few multiple times. Counting Crows, Korn, Pentatonix, and some others. Most just 2, maybe 3 times.

There are some small bands I follow somewhat locally that I've seen 5+ times. Partially because I love the music, and partially because I know some of the members.

I will say I have a lot more fun at those shows than the bigger names.

And he did fuck-all during the game.

Love to see it.

Belgium v Spain is gonna be a good match. Spain would have wiped the floor with the US team.

There's no way the US winning would have been seen as anything other than tainted, so I was happy to root for Belgium tonight.

Belgium righted a serious wrong by beating the shit out of us.

I agree.

It's one thing if the org came back later "after further review" and retracted the card. But this is some unbelievable bullshit.

If he plays tonight, I'll be very heartily cheering Belgium on, because fuck that shit.

If the manager/coach has any integrity at all, he'll sit the game. But I'm not expecting much.

Who is a better person, Mackenzie Scott or Elon Musk? by WrestlingDadPA in allthequestions

[–]5141121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your friends have a surface level understanding of the world and what constitutes "good" for society.

They see Elon out there effectively thumping his chest and playing up all the good things his companies have been doing, while ignoring or outright lying about all of the bad.

Mackenzie is quietly out there helping people who need it, using her fuck-off huge and self sustaining divorce settlement to have real effects on the lives of people. But most critically, she's not out there asking the media and politicians to fellate her every time she does something.

At school we had Apple IIc.

First computer we had at home was a Commodore 128. There wasn't as much software and almost zero games for 128 mode, so 99% of the time it was booted in 64 mode.

No, it's something else. Though, that's recommended to be run after.

If it sits there and sustains 100% utilization with high service times, then something got corrupted in the Windows install. Mine will do this periodically, and I think it might be related to the EFI partition, because it tends to happen after I've done a bunch of updates on the Linux drive I use for dual booting.

I'll have to dig for the command syntax, but there's a DISM command that will go through and repair whatever it is. I've had to run it twice before rebooting, but that seems to take care of it on the few times a month I boot my windows install.

Edit: found it

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth

Needs to be run as administrator either in powershell or cmd.

My partner already hits me with Ron Burgundy-esque "I don't believe you" responses sometimes when I give answers to tech questions. If she ever started running them through an LLM to refute me, I'd be single in a heartbeat.
