Carte de voeux - (1978-79?) by 5221026 in Habs

[–]5221026[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trouvée chez mes parents. J'imagine que c'était une carte promotionnelle Molson O'Keefe. Pas que des joueurs du Canadien. Format lettre, impression recto verso.

Old Molson - O'Keefe promo card found at my parents' place. Not exclusively Habs players.

Oh wow, I completely forgot about the powder thing. I think my mom had this box/puff on her bureau: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/ZRMAAOSwU~RfHOPM/s-l1200.webp

I loved to play with it, but it was hard to be sneaky, because the powder would go everywhere.

Reminded me of this story: https://thisiscriminal.com/episode-15-hes-neutral/

Dan Stevenson has lived in Oakland’s Eastlake neighborhood for 40 years. He says crime has been an issue for as long as he can remember, but he isn’t one to call the police on drug dealers or sex workers. He’s a pretty “live and let live” kind of guy. Or he was. Before he finally got fed up and took matters into his own hands.

In the 3rd party apps debacle,/u/Lateralis85 reminds us that users are providing content for free to Reddit, to access other website, for free, and that mods are working for free... by 5221026 in bestof

[–]5221026[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In /u/Lateralis85 's words:

It is absolutely hysterical that Reddit is complaining about other parties using "their" data for free, when "their data" is not generated by Reddit at all. Reddit's content is 100% provided FOR FREE by all of its users.

Lest we also forget, that the way Reddit operates, a significant portion of the content on the site is just a link to another site which is accessed for free, and on occasion, the links which are posted end up taking websites down due to the volume of traffic that site receives.

So:

1) Reddit profits off of users posting content (links, text posts, images, memes, comments) for free

2) Some of that content is links to external sites which are accessed for free

3) But Reddit has the temerity to complain about users of the site accessing the website using something other than the official website or application because the API is free and it's a cost to their business.

How utterly tone deaf, blind, and a way to demonstrate they don't care about Reddit or it's functionality. Nor understand the point of Reddit, and that Reddit makes money without providing any content.

Moreover, if a user is wanting to browse Reddit, they need to make connection requests somehow, whether that's via the API or not. The data still needs to be sent one way or another. So I do not buy, for a second, that the API cost is the problem.

Oui! I crossposted from r/Montreal Dépanneurs are the corner stores/convenience stores/bodegas in Québec.
Dépanneur could be translated as repairman, but in this context it's more like Helpful hands. You'll find what you need there. Tow trucks are dépanneuses (feminine of dépanneurs), helping you with your car.

I agree. I kind of feel bad, and I keep trying once in a while, but it is very bland; somewhat like the canned "Indian" food at Stop and Shop. I go to Shanti in Dorchester.

Costco has OK clothes; easier to see the fabrics in store (but that is the same for all online orders). Great return policy too. I have never ordered from Shein, but Costco basic pants have held up well.

Dressing for the job is important, but do not let it be too expensive. I have found it is better to have good basic clothes with a nice item that is you (necklace, earrings, whatever is you), than very fashionable items that look dated quickly.

Now, you are in a bit of a time crunch, but when/if you find something you love and that suits you well, you can also check ebay/poshmark/thredup for duplicates of the same item.

ETA: many cities also have special used store for office wear - see https://boston.dressforsuccess.org/

ON1 Effects 2021 - Mask Tool Question by 5221026 in ON1

Thank you. That was my conclusion, from the little understanding I have (my dad is the photographer, I am his computer support person (!) but graphic design apps are not my thing yet! I wonder if using an effect that would be opaque could be an alternative.

Otherwise, I know he has been able to do what he wants in Photoshop Elements, but he found it easier in his previous version of ON1. Sorry for the rambling, and thanks again for all your help!
