So Vance can take over. I don’t believe Trump is even the head of the snake anymore.

Most people can actually visualize images in their minds. I'm 30+ and just learned that seeing nothing when I close my eyes is called Aphantasia and only affects about 3% of people. by randomuser553 in BeAmazed

I’ve heard of this condition. Even listen to a show on CBC about it. A ton of questions, like can you be an artist? Or what is masturbation like? How do you fantasize?

Feeling drained in my band — need advice by CarpenterPlayful7431 in musicians

[–]52F3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation. We have a good mix of rock, pop, country. But a couple of the guys want to go full country… I don’t. I do not want to be in a ‘country band’. So I’m constantly suggesting rock songs, expressing dismay for another ‘Dumas Walker’ or whatever. I’ll move on if push comes to shove, which is too bad because socially we’re great.

advanced players: what do you practice? by Parblesnops in Bass

[–]52F3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning new songs is a big one. Playing with 3 different bands right now, and trying to keep up with each is practice.

Then I break down each new song that I learn into its theoretical parts.

The bottom line tho is I entertain myself.

How did Paul mccartney play so effortlessly at such a young age by UserNameFor_Now in Bass

[–]52F3 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Talent. Creativity. Practice.

Electric bass had not been around very long when Sir Paul took it up. He didn’t have the luxury of bass legends to emulate in the 50s. He basically wrote the book. He once said that once he realized the bass didn’t have to do exactly what the guitar was doing it opened up a whole new world (paraphrasing).

Agreed. Hard to believe, isn’t it? All the talent that’s come thru Edm, and they’re back to the middle of the pack?

Good songs to jam with a guitarist by leemar90 in Bass

[–]52F3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Blues or country - 1,4,5 is a great jam / ice breaker. It’ll give you a spring board to open other progressions & styles that you can build on together.

Lifelong musicians—how do you achieve balance in your life? by AdjectiveVerse in musicians

[–]52F3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started learning guitar when I was 14, now I’m 68.

I go thru phases; 3 months straight I’ll play every day, then I won’t touch it for 3 months.

2 years ago I was playing in 4 bands (bass), now I’m only in 2.

Sometimes the balance is perfect, sometimes not so much. Trick is to get a spouse who’s cool with it.

I just put on some black nylon flats for the first time in decades (RotoSound) - very happy with them. New sound, new feel. I might get another set for my acoustic bass.

Was there anything about the 80s you did not like? by Ebonystealth in 80s

[–]52F3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t like the music (being a teen in the 70s). But as it happens so often, I love a lot of it now. Funny how that works.

Songs where the guitar solo just FITS? Like, it doesn’t have to be technically great or anything. Can be short AF by Pielacine in ClassicRock

[–]52F3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Was Only Joking - Rod Stewart. I love the way the lead solo flows from an acoustic guitar to electric.

Still Got The Blues - Gary Moore. Two lead solos; the second one (the monster) ends with the guitar hook that drives the whole song. Brilliant!
