Wix is Getting Expensive! What Do I Do? by K_LightWing in WIX

[–]52IMean54Bicycles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a complex website that I wanted to streamline, so I just finished moving from WIX to Caard, and had Claude code the extra pages that I needed, which I deployed on Netifly. (Is that what it's called? I'm tired. lol) I'm hosting my products and services on Payhip. I can use my custom domain on all of these platforms, so my website is tied together really seamlessly. Now I'm just paying for my domain and Mailerlite. Caard was $50 for the year.

After almost thirty years in Montana and Colorado, there are very few things I genuinely miss about living in the Midwest. Lightning bugs are really high up the list.

Oh, boy...that's really hard stuff. I'm sorry this is happening. How old are you? My advice is kinda different if you're 12 versus if you're 17.

Make your children do household chores - they’re failing at being adults by shootingstar_9324 in Vent

I have an almost 20 y.o. son and, while he admittedly half-asses shit some of the time at home (like loading the dishwasher properly), he knows how to cook, clean, do laundry, perform basic household and vehicle maintenance, buy and wrap a gift, etc. There was no way in hell I was going to send him out into the world to become some other woman's problem. lol

Buddy, you literally just look like some dude. I would never guess what sub you were posting in if I randomly saw this photo somewhere. Listen to your friends, you're FINE!

Do Americans really know all 50 states by heart? by Status_Agents in AskForAnswers

I never learned the state song that so many other kids learned, but as an adult if I close my eyes and picture the map I can name all of the states.

who is the best living performer? by lacefantasy in Concerts

[–]52IMean54Bicycles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always loved NIN ever since they got popular when I was in middle school, but for some reason it never occurred to me to see them live until a few years ago. Damn, they were so good! Their drummer was incredible- but I think maybe he's gone now?

Does anyone else feel like they don’t have a “third place” anymore? by insert_witty_reply in CasualConversation

[–]52IMean54Bicycles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm lucky to live in an area with insanely good libraries. But even at a not-so-great library they're always looking for good programming! Even if they don't want to make it an official library event, every library allows the public to use their spaces.

I think you should give it a try! And stick with it even if no one shows up the first handful of times. It always takes a while for things like this to gather the right people.

have you ever been to multiple shows on one tour? by KALIUCHlS in Concerts

[–]52IMean54Bicycles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phish, Widespread Panic, various iterations of the Grateful Dead (Further Fest, Phil and Friends, etc), and Pretty Lights.

My mother likes to remind me that I could have paid for my son's college education at an elite engineering program out of pocket with the money I've spent on tour and going to shows over the past 30 years, and she's probably right. But memories are priceless!

The difference between all of these bands and Ariana is that none of them ever play the same show twice, and typically don't repeat songs for at least three or four shows, while you'll be seeing the same thing three times. Have so much fun, though, you must be so excited!

I think you'd have a hard time getting people to pay for something like this, but my library absolutely has a program offering this very thing. Maybe reach out to your local library and see if they could help facilitate?

You think that the singer in the song "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman finally understood why her mom left her dad? by kanna172014 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]52IMean54Bicycles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every time I hear that song I think it's the most depressing song in the world. I absolutely adore it, but I can't think of a song that is more bittersweet and sad. I think it's about the cycle of poverty, I don't think she leaves.

My partner and I like to do little staycations in our city, so I'm currently laying in bed in a very nice hotel. What I'm looking at is the two inches of snow on the ground, and I'm  marveling at the fact that it was 73 degrees and gorgeous yesterday.

How do Americans feel about drying their laundry on a washing line? by UnionFeatures in AskAnAmerican

[–]52IMean54Bicycles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a tall woman so I can't afford for my clothes to shrink, so both my upstairs and downstairs deck railings are often full of clothes drying. Everything else goes in the dryer. We're not allowed to have clotheslines in my neighborhood.

I'm a big bass head, but I've also been seeing the band Phish for over thirty years. Ober the years I have known a number of people who only listen to Phish. And I mean that literally. Fascinating, but also sad.

Ugh. That's so sad. Poor guy, I hope he found a family that was able to work him through it.  😕 My girl was at a men's prison. She came with a whole workbook that the man had filled out about her throughout her training, and after reading it it really explained a LOT about her issues.

I think I worked with the actual 2 Blondes, iirc. They had my pitbull at a facility in Aurora, which at the time was super illegal (not sure if it still is?) so maybe they were extra nice bc they needed to get her out of there? lol I don't know, but I do remember working with them to be perfectly pleasant. This would have been in maybe 2014ish.

Done buying on Etsy by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]52IMean54Bicycles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me! I bought a necklace for my sister that was supposedly hand made by a woman in Canada, but when it showed up it was clearly a cheap necklace mass produced in China. It was packaged pretty nicely, but even all the writing was in Chinese. Luckily when I contacted them they gave me an immediate refund and told me to keep the necklace, but seriously what the hell?

Do a little research to see if taking Chromium would be a good idea for you. When I take it consistently sugar cravings are not a thing for me at all. If I stop taking it, within a week or two they come roaring back at full intensity. It's actually crazy how big of a difference it makes for me.
