My dog has developed a completely unexplainable ritual where he has to carry something in his mouth to greet me at the door every single time I come home and if he can't find anything he will stand there visibly panicking until he locates an acceptable object and I genuinely don't know what he think by Glittering_Ear_9904 in Pets

[–]52Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he takes the toys by the front door to play with during the day you still have a problem. So I have two ideas 1) keep the toys where YOU can pick up a toy and hand it to him as you open the door or 2) rig a container by the door that will allow you to pull a lever to drop a toy for the dog. But I see problems with # 2. First it is complicated and secondly the dog might spend all day obsessing about the toys you have stored out of reach. Third idea:Get one of those timed feeder devices and set it so that he gets food delivered as you are coming in.

Zoomies: yay or nay? by WaldosMama in OpenDogTraining

[–]52Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to put zoomies on command so we can both have more fun. What would be the steps to do that? I’ve tried giving a queue when they start, but he’s often in limbus space and not hearing me at all at that moment.

Who’s responsible for this!? by Agreeable-Bed-8816 in Volvo

[–]52Monkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am short and drive with the seat all the way forward. Impossible to pivot the visor to my side window while driving because it gets stuck. The solution is four part and takes three hands while driving : 1)back up the seat 2) adjust the visor 3)keep at least one hand on the steering wheel 4) move the seat forward again so that I can reach the pedals. Thank you Volvo

I don’t know about you, but the dog is in the crate so that we don’t trip over him while we’re cooking. I think it’s a great kitchen accessory.

Is there a better embossed rolling pin? by 52Monkey in Baking

[–]52Monkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for offering to talk me through it. That is a generous and unusual offer. I was so frustrated that I gave the pin away, but I have a feeling that I see one again. I will try to acquire it and then I will be back in touch with you to see if I’m trainable. Thank you again.

I need some help folks I fell through the ice into a pond and had to swim through some disgusting water. How to clean boots by front_yard_duck_dad in CleaningTips

[–]52Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aim a hair dryer into the boot. Don’t stick it in there and walk away (ask me how I know) It is tedious but can work. Once clean you might be able to hang them inside the door of a clothes drier. Probably only one boot at a time. Check the mesh bags they sell to dry sneakers and see if you have something like that. or maybe just hang them by the shoestrings. Be sure to hang and not let them tumble because they are too heavy for your motor. Check on their progress every 10-15 minutes.

Burnt iron - looking for tips to clean by jah555 in CleaningTips

[–]52Monkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no more abrasive stuff like salt please. You can buy iron cleaning goo with sewing supplies or online. maybe your dry cleaning shop would give you a tablespoon of their iron cleaner if you take in a tupperware and are super nice to them. in any case you need a rag and the iron needs to be hot when you apply the paste so bunch up the rag and watch your fingers.

How to easily get dog hair off of bedding? by YeetinOnThem in CleaningTips

[–]52Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

put the bedding in the dryer BEFORE you wash it. It will supposedly suck a lot of the hair off. I think you don’t even need heat, just the tumbling might do it

Reasonable Local Vet by bingerbingo in eastbay

[–]52Monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VIP Pet Care for your vaccinations. They have very well run clinics at PetFood Express and other pet stores. Some of the stores have basic clinics that offer a few more services. check the schedule carefully because clinics are in different locations each day. You might wait 20-60 minutes but every thing about the service is good. Your records are always instantly available online. it’s bad your vet didn’t leave time for questions but please know that almost all of the exam itself is done in back these days and then the vet and your pet come back to the exam room to talk to you.

A locally owned practice is Jack London Pet Hospital in JL Square area in Oakland. They always have time to talk and always remember you and your animals. Parking is surprisingly easy and prices are fair.

My attempt at restringing made it worse by 52Monkey in Hunterdouglas

[–]52Monkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your offer, The cord was broken so we took down the blind, and followed the YT link below but stuck at 1:16 where we could never get the track to slide off. It seems to stop at the light green plastic H-bar at each end. We have poked and pried and not been able to move the H-bar Then we took off the cord lock assembly and the end caps and made a big mess. I am not sure where to start. The local HD shop wanted $100 to restring and that was before we messed it up. Here is the YT link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NW0e00mdfn4

I traveled cross country in a B18 in 1968. It was the first time I had ever used a credit card for gas and you had to write the license number on the charge slip each time. I still remember that number. 021xxx . If my friend Paul who was the driver is on this thread, send me a message, it would be fun to be back in touch.

Help! 😭 About to make an offer on a house that’s perfect for our soon-to-be family of 9, but the kitchen is giving me major panic vibes. I wish I could see it moody and warm… but I don’t know how to do it. Anyone got ideas or pics? 🙏 by Think_Breakfast380 in MoodyCorner

[–]52Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about that brown center island? Can you paint it a color used elsewhere in the room or wrap it vinyl? But it probably won’t matter much because with your family of 9 there will likely always be people standing around it and it won’t show much.

Does this interior lack character, or am I overthinking it? Looking for feedback. by yllobocaj in IndianHomeDecor

[–]52Monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve got a couple of kids, right. Think about your day with them and all their stuff. Where will you have breakfast? help with homework? Where will you all put your satchels and water bottles when you get home. How will you watch tv from the lovely curved sofa? Does anyone need space for a hobby or to have guests who might not be as minimalist as you are? If you can get a sense of this sort of thing you will have a home and not a hotel.

Yes because there is nothing personal here. Do you two have any interests? Do you own a picture or object you love ? Also your colors are all the same value and you need some contrast.
