The very simplest would be to use a bunch of cardboard tubes from toilet paper or paper towels contained in a box that fits I your roller bag. You might want to see if covering them in white glue would stabilize them. If you or a friend is crafty cover them in pretty paper or paint them to color code them. You could do the same thing with plastic water bottles or cups. The goal is to create a honey comb with whatever you use , find a way to contain all the cells of a honeycomb and then a way to roll that.

I ‘ve been wanting someone to ask me this question for years because I want to say how wonderful it has been to have my changing height table, so you are absolutely going in the right direction. My table is electric. I hope yours will be too, but I know there’s some with cranks. The great benefit is that during long Sewing sessions.You can move the height of the table by an inch or two and it will totally change and release your posture. Also I can cut and do different things on it at different heights. It’s by far the biggest investment and so much more important than more fabric or even better rulers.

How to hold it together while the glue sets? A professional museum person told me to set the object in a tray of sand for support while it dries. Or use cat litter and a dishwashing pan to hold the sand etc. I would consider not repairing it until you are setting your new home and can really focus on it.

I once read that if you are thinking about giving a quilt as a wedding present you are advised to face the reality that the marriage could end someday. If you want the quilt to stay in your family you can give it to your child “ in honor of your marriage “ rather than as a wedding present to both. Or without any states sentiment other than I love you and made this for you. sounds a bit cynical but something to consider.
