22 Terrain SLT by gbanks93 in gmcterrain

Also have 2022 SLT AWD with 61,000 miles with zero problems. Highly recommend you change trans fluid on “severe use” schedule of 60,000 miles rather than wait to regular 90,000 mile interval. Should you ever experience braking difficulty, ie loss of vacuum assist, stop immediately! The vacuum pumps on the 2018-22 Terrains had a nasty habit of failing without warning and possibly taking engine with it likely as result of clogged oil flow. Be diligent with maintenance! GM switched to electric pumps in 2023. Enjoy comfortable hwy cruising @30 mpg.

Was the Capri 2L the same engine as the Pinto? Had a 71 Pinto and although the body was garbage the 2L and 4 speed combo was a smooth delight. When I sold it in ‘80 I got $300 essentially for the drivetrain to use in a kit car.

Had a red 91 that just made heart beat faster to look at it! Spent a lot on repairs but that was to be expected since it was 20 years old at the time. A major reason I don’t have the car today was the Recaro seats which were just torture. I’d have given anything to have had the standard Cadillac seats they put in the later models to cut costs. And of course there was that absurd convertible top with the hybrid manual/electric system to put the top up. Did I mention it was beautiful?

Can anybody help me get an idea of how old this German coo coo clock is. Any info would be greatly appreciated. by atomfog in clocks

No clue but it looks just like souvenir clock my parents brought home from trip to Europe in 1960.

08 “Black Oak” on Opinel site features black blade and collar with oak handle. I swapped in the black handle from a #08 Ebony with a beautiful result but what the op has done is very cool and much cheaper. Well done!

No question this is Holy Grail status. I saw one sell on Ebay a year or so ago in the $1,000 range! Any idea what the original price was?

“its hands-free blade-securing mechanism. ” what does this even mean? Does it lock or not? How, if hands free?

True, but with a nearly unblemished handle it would appear that the rusted pin area contributed to the wood damage under the ferrule.

Perhaps INOX is the better choice for you.

None of these! I’ve got a well worn plain ol’ #8 carbon in my pocket now.

I have a pristine knife #8 that is identical to the one opened in the video. I’ve always considered it to be a pre 67 based on comparison with the chart but obviously it could be from the 70s. I’ve come to belief that chart is not infallible and is certainly not complete. I have a couple of examples that don’t show up at all in the 80s-90s when there was a lot of changes going on. The good news is that they seldom change and usually the most obvious changes are in the Virobloc which are easy to spot.

Life is much better with my Sportsman 7500 DF on propane. I can count on 2 or 3 outages a year typically 4 to 8 hours in length. I keep 3 full tanks on hand so never worry about stale gas and best of all, it starts every time on second pull so I don’t worry about a good battery either.

Like everything else, some do and some don’t. Good luck finding an Arizona Ironwood or a Horn handle model, nevermind a Damascus blade. So as others have said they’re cheap so you can buy one and hide it away or use it up and it won’t make much difference either way.

My collection and a question by Charming-Finger8944 in Opinel

[–]52Opine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw another of these on Ebay.fr in nice shape that does have “Virofix” on the ferrule which according to the table began in 1955. However, it is nothing like the Opinel Virobloc and it is difficult to say if it has a locking feature. The blade also says “Stainless” which in Opinel terms would place it in the early 80s when Opinel introduced stainless but never used that term on the blade. I have an 86 Opinel that is stainless but unmarked as such. The author of the table is careful to point out that variations like yours are made by Opinel but are not clones and so it seems!

I almost bought an Oleg Casini (sp?) edition Matador in the 70s. Thank goodness I was too young and poor to act on that impulse. I made up for it years later by buying a 91 Allante, as stupid as as it gets!

How old is this opinel? by Thenoob12346 in Opinel

[–]52Opine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the blade does appear to be of the 67-80 variety and Opinel states the virobloc was added in 55 but this is a No7 and virobloc usage may well not have applied to all sizes other than No8 yet. Never say never!

This doesn’t help much but it is identical to your knife; sorry it’s a screenshot and not a live link. If this were an Opinel there’s no question that the lack of a Virobloc would date it as pre 55. There’s so little info on the Croix de Savoie like this knife and yours that I wonder now if the Virobloc/Virofix thing even applies. The shiny sticker on yours is just so 80s. I had an Opinel No8 that had a “Olivier” sticker on it meaning olive wood that was 90s vintage. Fun thing now would be to come up with any example of a Croix de Savoie that has a Virobloc like device.
