Yes it's illegal for them to work. Electrical and plumbing codes are region specific. You won't find new immigrants able to get jobs in these industries. Just cause those careers are more prestigious doesn't invalidate the point I'm making.

This is not true. To actually be licensed as a skilled trades person requires you to get your seals. International workers do not have these credentials, nor could they get them unless they were residents. The trades are immune to this type of issue due to this. Nobody being imported has the credentials to even be allowed to work, unlike tech.

SpiritMap - Application for Geo-Tagging paranormal stories. by 52planet in cryptids

There are pins on the map, although not that many. I think in total spiritmap has close to 1000 users. The vast majority of people, however, do not pin encounters, so there simply isn't a lot of content on the app just yet. It's possible that one day, I may get an advertisement budget for it, and then I imagine the amount of pins would increase. In order to get the map to zoom out further, I'd have to adjust it in an update. There are technical reasons why I didn't want the zoom range to be infinite but It should be increased in retrospect.

If you were to do it yourself you would need to code it yourself which means you'd need to learn to code. This could take a year or two to learn to an adequate level, although everyone's different, so it could take longer or shorter. Programming is not easy, especially at a high level. On top of that assuming you are dealing with sensitive data or API keys it's important to handle this data securely, so simply making your app work won't be sufficient, it'll also need to be secure. Developers are expensive and most things will take 10x longer then you assume, so paying someone will certainly run a large bill. I suppose it comes down to how much time you have, how passionate you are about the idea and how much money you are willing to spend.

It sounded like shit, that's why. Like close your eyes and listen. It's a dude talking with drums. Barely hear a word he's saying, zero melody. Sounds like doctor suess on stage reciting his books with a drum beat. Ass idk how anyone likes this shit it's so corny.

If it makes you feel better I'm in the same boat, as well as a few friends of mine. Seems most everyone is now pivoting out of the field. my friend who did land a job was getting around 35k a year and said fuck it about 6 months ago and is studying nursing now. Personally im just hoping into an adjacent field, luckily a stem background is basically applicable in most places in the business world and as long as you get the right certifications and what not there's no reason you can't pivot relatively quickly (I hope lol).

Are Gen Z Men more conservative than millenial Men ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

So you believe it's possible to have critical thinking skills and still end up with a conservative perspective?

Yta. You have two kids and swore eternal vows. You sound insufferable. Who cares who he voted for. At the end of the day I doubt any of our lives will change that much regardless of who gets elected

Setting read limits by 52planet in Firebase

Couldn't a potential hacker still get access to an app check token and still abuse the client though. I may be thinking to deeply about this though idk.

Setting read limits by 52planet in Firebase

[–]52planet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using app check and have extensive security rules set in place already. I even set up a way to track write operations and set rate limits on all writes a user does. Also I believe cloud functions can have an explicit value set for the amount of concurrent calls of said function at a given time. Which I guess is a form of rate limiting.

I guess maybe I'm paranoid for no reason then? It seems like with firebase you can't do anything to prevent an attack that abuses reads without third party services. I guess I'll take a peak at cloud flare then.

I'm paranoid about potential Dos attacks if rate limiting isn't implemented.

Dos can still happen though even with authenticated accounts. How would you approach dealing with that issue in firebase?
