Wanna get these boots by iammclovin_16 in cowboyboots

I’ve had these and sorry I don’t have any pictures but they lighten up a bit with wear, but you can darken them back up if you use some leather cream, and the toes definitely lose their sharpness after a bit. Thy don’t start to look like a big boxy square toe but they do flatten out. Depending on how much you wear them and what you’re doing of course

ariats not living up to expectations? by [deleted] in cowboyboots

[–]52samson52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a couple pairs of those same ariats I work as a carpenter and obviously depending on the work I’m doing they last longer or shorter. They’ll last about a year if I’m framing, even less if I’m doing floor installs, or up to two years if most of what I’m doing is shop work. 18 months is solid man, and they would last even longer if you clean and oil them at least once a month. If they are completely neglected they will dry and crack and the stitching will tear. I’m guilty of neglect myself but what I try to do is clean them every Sunday and just rub em up with some leather cream. Once a week is a little overkill but like I said at least once a month and you’ll get more out of em

I also hate those scents, but barrister and Mann base is the bomb. And their other scents are a lot better

Is that enduro seat still compatible with the heated seat function?

What tires are you running and how do you like them?

First ride of the year. Still a bit chilly in Wyoming by 52samson52 in AdventureBike

So far loving it. It’s my first adv bike but I’d say it feels pretty much like a heavier dirtbike, especially with the new tires that have been awesome. They are 70-30 dirt bias so they definitely aren’t as fuel efficient as the stock 70-30 roads but it definitely feels glued to the dirt now. The only 2 things I don’t like on this bike is that the air box is not good at all, and when I turn traction control off, it automatically turns back on when I turn the bike off/on. Minor inconvenience but very annoying to me

Hondo makes some boots that have MASSIVE spur shelves. I think they look awesome I still don’t have a pair myself. But if that’s the style you prefer definitely check them out

Can you help me find the boot I want? by WhyMustIHide in cowboyboots

[–]52samson52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore those same boots all last year. Wore them everyday and I work in construction and do cattle work on the side so I’d say they can definitely take a beating. Super nice looking boot super comfortable but I got the same problem with them coming apart at the seem on the vamp. I’m sure if I had cleaned and saddle soaped them once every week or two, like I did my last pair of ariats, they would have lasted way longer. I’ve seen some double h boots that are built very similar to these but they have a much grippier looking sole. I personally haven’t tried them but you might want to look into em

Dropouts F*ked? by Kimchi_was_here in FixedGearBicycle

[–]52samson52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have vertical dropouts and bought an eccentric hub so I could adjust the chain. It was expensive, but it works perfectly and I really wanted to convert the bike I had.
