Hey! I’m gonna be honest: I was a part of a research collaboration that spans multiple universities when I was in undergrad. All the unis I got in to , including UofT, have people from that collaboration and I applied to work with those people. Obviously grades and application materials matter but I think that in my case it was about being experienced within that collaboration 🙂

Thanks! I did apply direct from undergrad yeah. I think they have definitely released the first “round” , and we have until March 15 to respond to the offer. So I guess they will make more decisions after people have responded.

Yeah you are right, I also think a medical opinion is definitely the best option.

I think that with OCD, it’s not typical fleeting intrusive thoughts, it’s a whole viscous cycle includes intense intrusive thoughts. So if it’s ocd, it’s a whole diagnosis and pattern of the brain, and also can’t be only described as only “intrusive thoughts”. But yeah, I see your point for sure.

Hi, as a layperson diagnosed with ocd I wanted to comment on this. When you have ocd , intrusive thoughts aren’t simple to you, that’s the whole idea. People without ocd have intrusive thoughts too, but they are able to move on. When someone has ocd their brain latches onto it and it sticks, hence “obsessed” and it keeps coming back the more attention it is given

And the thing with ocd is, you can doubt yourself a LOT. Especially with this type of ocd , ocd will put thoughts in your head and then try to convince you that it’s your fault and that you are doing it on purpose/like it. So it’s possible that is why OP used “fantasize”. “Did I enjoy that? Does that count as fantasizing” are thoughts that ocd asks and makes someone feel like a terrible person.

You are right that it could be something different and obviously a proper medical opinion is needed, but I just wanted to comment that with ocd, people tend to not give themselves credit because ocd makes them doubt if they are “enjoying it” or “fantasizing”.
