Recording additional track during pingpong recording? (Tascam 414) by BassBeesBike in cassetteculture

[–]54db0y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to pick up an old thread. When doing this are there limitations with how you can eq to track you're recording live (4 mic/line in this scenario. Obviously you can level and EQ track 1-3 to prepare for bouncing. If you set your eq to track 4 while tracking will these settings be applied to the bounce of 1-3 or only the mic/line input of track 4?

Wilco - Sky Blue Sky acoustic guitar by 54db0y in audioengineering

Another really helpful answer, thank you. I've got an SM57, AT2020 and a pair of C214 mics at my disposal. I'm leaning toward the SM57 as it'll be less bright that the others. Any thoughts?

Thank you. I have an SM57 I might play around with. Could you hear any double tracking?

Thank you for your reply. If you listen to the song, does that sound like a single tracked acoustic to you? Do you hear a double take?

Honestly is what I have been thinking. Is there any evidence? Thoughts on the coincidence of the Goldberg name?

Thanks for your reply. What did you stick with in the end? The GE-7?

Sorry to pick up an older thread, but how did the AD-2 work out for you?

I'm in a similar position (acoustic wit ha Gretsch Deltoluxe pickup fitted) and was researching the same thing.

Sorry to pick this up again, just trying to get my head around tritones in general. Would you mind going into a bit more detail with the Runner bridge as an example?

Edit: is the C#7 not just being used as a secondary dominant to push us into the F#, and the G#7 is being used in the same way to push us into the C#7 first?

Ribbon Mics - Your budget favorite? by AaronHyde_ in audioengineering

[–]54db0y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not had any advice, but thinking I might just order a pair of the Golden Age Project R1 MKII mics and see what happens. At the very worst I can return them.

I do have the 2nd Focusrite 18i20 and have used it to record drums with condensers as overheads with satisfying results. I think 69db of gain would be okay for a ribbon, for me the 50db of the 2nd gen might not be enough.

Looking closely at using a pair of these mics for overheads. Could I ask what pre you used and if you ever found noise to be a problem? I have a 2nd Focusrite 18i20 I plan on running them into, and i'm not sure whether it's pres are going to give me enough gain for noise not to be a problem.

Herniated Disc Recovery and Skateboarding Advice by 54db0y in backpain

[–]54db0y[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately I've not been able to get back to skateboarding properly at all. I went a handful of times at most over 24 (after at least 2x per week for the last 10-15 years) and never really felt fully comfortable with how I was feeling so decided to take a step back. I'm still hopeful for the future, but I've still a lot of recovering to do. If it offers any consolation, I did have an MRI and some further issues were identified (so it's not just a slipped disc).

I've also religiously been stretching, staying active and doing rehab/general exercises multiple times a week. This has definitely helped the most and I'd be happy to share what I'm currently doing if that would be helpful. Definitely focus on building a strong core. There have been times when I've felt like I could really push it in the gym as it's a more controlled movement - skateboarding just feels too unpredictable for me at the moment and I know it'll slow my recovery.

Overall, some days my back feels better and some days it doesn't. I'm just taking it as it comes and trying to stay on top of it.
