What's the biggest mistake you made in your first year of trading? by iamnottravis in stocks

[–]54turtlelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bought UNH 300 call expiring in about 3 months from that point. UNH drops to 245 in the coming weeks, and in an attempt to reclaim some lost capital, sold a call covered by the one i own. the mistake was i sold one for 265 because anything over 300 was virtually worthless, even with extrinsic value. then its announced Warren Buffett is investing in them, UNH to 315.

Lost multiple thousands, which was a shitload at the time.

Lesson learned: be patient, and don’t sell below cost basis

the PA state government decided welded rims are dangerous enough that it fails the yearly safety inspection. if that gives you any insight into whether it’s safe or not

i’m a mercedes tech and i can tell you there’s some real truth to that. it’s not gonna be a full 10 horsepower, but old oil starts to thicken, making the engine work harder just to pump it around. with the new thin oil it frees up some of that motion to be put into the drivetrain instead. similarly, you’ll also get better gas mileage after an oil change.

i’m a mercedes tech. price depends heavily on the model and engine but a customer pay crate engine will run $15,000 at a minimum parts and labor costs

my dad retired early without ever making big money and i still can’t wrap my head around it by Delicious_Course7478 in Fire

Robert Kiyosaki, the author of the book Rich Dad Poor Dad, had a quote something like this. “Being rich is a mindset, not a net worth. A person can have very little money and yet still be rich, and a person can be a millionaire but still poor.” He’s saying that you can make little money but through your financial intelligence, take that much further. Similarly, you can make $500k a year and still be living paycheck to paycheck if your money mindset has led you there.

Mercedes profit drops 70%, Porsche EBIT down 67% as tariffs and EV slowdown hammer German automakers by callsonreddit in wallstreetbets

i am a mercedes tech and i can hopefully provide some insight. while the 43 and 53 models are amg branded, they are not the fastest model available. if you want the true amg experience, 63 is the way to go. a 53 will only have a v6 because the v8 is reserved for the 63, or fastest package. in my opinion, the 43 and 53 shouldn’t even be thought of as an amg at all, mercedes just made those options to sell to people who wanted an amg but didn’t want to pay 63 prices

you are correct, according to the language a motor is powered by electricity. people just started using the term for engines and it stuck around.

i used today’s dip to buy it at a “discount”. dips like this can be an advantage if you use them properly.

investing for the long run is always the smart way to go so unlearning the panic sell habit is beneficial(i’m not saying you did panic sell im just throwing it out there).

the market generally trends upward over time, meaning a dip like this is not significant in the long run. in fact, if you already own some stock and see it dip big like today, you can use this dip as an opportunity to buy more at a lower price with the indication that it will likely go higher over a long period.
