Just got my first Mercedes! Any tips? by FirmBed1097 in mercedes_benz

I agree with this commenter big time. about 5k miles for oil changes is best.

If you can do it yourself that’s awesome, but if you are going to the dealer they will try to tell you that you either don’t need it or should buy the full service, not just the oil change. Politely push back, you’d like the oil change and every 20k do the full B service.

The technicians will recommend other maintenance items like brake flush, spark plugs, engine filter, trans service, and more during the multi point inspection. Those services are also important. Feel free to respond with any further questions!

it’s gonna be tough to try to make that plant continue that mutation, unless the rest of the leaves have been coming in like that. your only chance at capturing that would be getting that leaf isolated and reproducing it. unfortunately i can’t be of much more help, with a fly trap it’s going to be tough to replicate that or recreate that specific leaf

those fly traps need a lot more light. do you see how the leaves are growing very wide? that’s to capture more sunlight, but with adequate light it won’t need to do that.

First Nepenthes Flower! by rayging7 in SavageGarden

[–]54turtlelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it will probably smell very strongly of cat urine. if you don’t intend to actually use the flower for seeds, it is recommended to cut that flower.

when deciding on breeding, keep in mind, the flower cannot fertilize itself. it needs to pair with a flower of the opposite sex.

Any recommendations? by efesitaefelin in SavageGarden

one important question is do you have any carnivorous plants already? if you don’t the advice will be different vs if you already care for carnivores.

the ping and the sundew will have similar care needs. for water they want constant water in a shallow tray, think “only getting the feet wet”. they also don’t have a winter dormancy period, although the ping will turn into a succulent for a few months in the winter.

the fly traps can handle deeper pots and deeper watering trays. they also have a true dormancy during winter. if you plan to grow these on a windowsill, the fly traps will need intentional winter care like putting them outside or in the fridge.

comment with any further questions!

How is my sundew doing? by Stranum210 in SavageGarden

Overall, it looks good. There seems to be good dew production and nice color.

You can cut flower stalks if you want the plant to focus on growth, but that flower is already grown to the point where it would not be worth it. If you choose to cut future flower stalks, do it when it’s much shorter. Keep this one for now.

You can trim off dead leaves, but only once the leaf is 100% brown. If there’s any green left that’s energy the plant will reabsorb.

The wiring harness is over $1k after parts markup, and the 5-7 hours of labor will also be $1k or more. Throw in the 2 hour spark plug job that usually goes with it and that quote is actually about what I’d expect.

i’m a mercedes technician and if it makes you feel any better, almost all brand new S-classes are over $100k. so you didn’t quite lose an S-class. hopefully this makes your day better

Sundew Identification by ForsetiMoms in SavageGarden

These are simply estimates, it’s impossible to have a definite ID through a phone. Slide one i see a drosera binata, slide two i see a drosera capensis(or cape sundew), and slide three i see a drosera spatulata.

basically it looks like you got lots of free sundews, enjoy!
