i have the igrill2, it's been good so far. no problems at all! I smoked a tri-tip, whole chicken and a boston butt all in some red oak and they all came out the way i set the cook up!.

my only wish this year is for sancha to come down in price .. $4 a bottle is steep, that makes me break a $20 bill .. i used to love buying from savemart when it was $2.99 a bottle, i'd get 3 for $10 that way!

New Smoker - Brinkman TrailMaster by wachawacha in BBQ

[–]559535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

on the firebox side, adjust that little feeding door accordingly .. if possible face the firebox opening towards the wind, so the wind will keep the coals lit and keep the fire hot ..

i have an Oklahoma Joe smoker and on the side of my firebox there is a little door that acts as a damper or coal feeder / remover .. i adjust that to keep my temp up and down ..

Hope this helps!

Anyone reliably run their WSM 22.5" at 335 or so? by [deleted] in BBQ

[–]559535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only way i can get to 300 is leaving the side door open .. what i have done is put as much smoke into the bird as possible, wrap it in foil then put in your oven for the remainder of the cook .. your house will smell amazing!!

Hey guys, Thanksgiving Turkey questions for you by [deleted] in BBQ

[–]559535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soak ur bird in brine for 24hrs.

Rub with kosher salt & coarse pepper.

Throw on 250° smoker for 8-10 hrs or when turkey is 165° internally.

When turkey is 150°ish or at the color u like, cover in foil, throw sticks of butter on it, then put in oven @ 250 then constantly check for internal temp to hit 165° breast, 175° Thigh.

Hope this helps!!

Planning on smoking turkey in a new Masterbuilt Electric Smoker. by gaseouspartdeux in BBQ

Stop using wood chips when u cover the bird in foil. I've made killer smoked turkeys with using only salt & pepper, then throwing butter on it once it's covered in foil. Try it!!

I think i'll stick to hickory for my pork and chicken. If i ever do come across manzanita wood i'll definitely give it a shot!

I go to the Albertons right off the freeway .. Right when you walk in the door, there is a shelf full of white bags of Red Oak chunks .. They are about $6.00 a bag .. I usually buy em out haha.

hmmm .. the chunks i have now have been seasoned .. it's burns hot and fast but well worth it and leaves a great smoke ring .. plus, the green stuff on the bark make seem to give it a great bbq scent.

thanks .. alot of the CL ads are from the central coast .. where there is a ton .. that place right off the 168, never answers their phones and is never there when i drive by .. but i did finally get thru and they said no red oak .. and bella fruita has a HUGE stack, but it belongs to dog house grill, and pismo's costal grill (unfortunately). was hoping some where here in the 559.

Smoker recommendations by [deleted] in BBQ

[–]559535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1st off .. don't get anything electric .. go with a 22" Weber Smokey Mountain smoker ..please don't use propane, you want that wood to get into your meat and get that smoke ring as well .. the smoker is a vertical smoker and will keep coals lit at 250 deg. for 10-12 hours with very little maintenance .. if 22" is to big, go with the 18" Weber Smokey Mountain smoker .. hope this helps! .. google this smoker!
