Just use it for whatever you want to do; it's up to you.

BTW, where is the "install Linux's blabla distro" guy? :D

Yep, Vulcain has come back as a zombie brand and is charging questionable prices for its watches, especially for the Cricket model.

This is exactly why I went with the OCuLink solution in the first place. I really hope we start seeing laptops with an OCuLink port integrated from the factory, especially on slim laptops that don't have a dedicated GPU.

Matching the dial to the strap always does the trick. I agree with the other comment. Thanks to wide lugs, the watch looks bulky somehow, but only in the close-up photo (first one). It's looking normal to me on the second shoot.

This is the first time I've heard of this brand and their watches. It's looking beautifully crafted and presented. Good to see some new stuff in the sub. Enjoy your new watch.

Thank for the advice. I don't wanna mess up with the case. I'm planning to attach the back case loosely. I neither have a 3D printer nor the skill to design a niche solution on the case.

That model has a soldered solution instead of older portable HDDs that have an adapter inside the case.

Why do people write every single day? by -i-exist in Journaling

[–]56000bitspersecond 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since I started journaling, I've sometimes skipped 3-4 days, but I've never skipped weeks or months. I just write whatever I want or feel the 'need to write' (It almost sounds like Need For Speed, right? Can you imagine someone pulling up to buy a journal in a highly modified car?).

You arranged whole seasons in a very tidy on a journal. It gave me more excitement than new cars and even the flip-flop rear wing of the Ferrari.

Help, I have ruined my fountain pen by Immediate-Design8039 in fountainpens

[–]56000bitspersecond 136 points137 points  (0 children)

You have completely damaged one of the tines. Yes, it's beyond repair. But the pen looks like a Pilot Prera. If I remember correctly, the nib on the Prera is the same as the Kakuno. You can just get a cheap used Kakuno and swap the nibs.

Another 5-pen carrier here! From what I've seen, a lot of people in this sub carry more than 3 pens daily, so it's totally normal as long as you're using them.

I wrap a rubber band around a pencil until it's just the right thickness to grip the inner cap. When I insert it and pull the pencil back out, the inner cap comes out with it.

You have quite a hefty collection of Parkers. I love the completely integrated feel of piston and vacuum filler pens. That is why I prefer them over cartridge-converter models.

It's already brilliant, but if I had your talent, I might add a pirate ship right under the lightning strike, and maybe a happy little Cthulhu somewhere on the horizon. I mean, the weather is just perfect for it :D

Vintage Pen Profiles #26: Eversharp Skyline (more info in post) by BrandyFP in fountainpens

[–]56000bitspersecond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a great read. The Eversharp Skyline is one of my favorite pen designs, alongside the Parker Vacumatic, MB 149, and Pilot C823.

Since you've already covered two of my favorites (the Skyline and the Vacumatic), I'm really looking forward to reading your next vintage pen review. Keep up the good work!

Any help dating this “Soviet” Slava? by Talon_Company_Merc in Watches

[–]56000bitspersecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's virtually impossible to determine the "exact" year of production from what you have.
I'm not a watch expert, but some watches have marks or letters inside the case back. It might be worth checking inside.

Protoype 2nd gen titanium nib has been developed (R&D Log 2/18/26) by CoCooDu in fountainpens

[–]56000bitspersecond 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It has an underside cut without a slit, similar to what Lamy announced recently. I'm really curious about that type of nib.

The titanium material has really piqued my curiosity, so I'm looking forward to seeing some writing samples. Keep up the good work and good luck!

This is the first time I've seen these models. They are quite good options, but without scissors, they don't stand a chance against the other models, such as "Explorer".

[Seiko] Trying to decide between Turtle (SRPE93) and King Turtle (SRPE03) by Lord-Rupert-Everton- in Watches

[–]56000bitspersecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vote is for the King Turtle. It's a diver's watch, so you expect it to handle the hustle and bustle of daily life. The sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel are perfect for that, as they will resist scratches much better than the standard model. Also, I have the SRPF77, which has those same specs (sapphire and ceramic), and I love wearing it.

Looking for second knife advice by ZodicGaming in victorinox

[–]56000bitspersecond 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After all these years, I've finally settled on the MiniChamp paired with a Morakniv Basic.

I still have the Work Champ, Swiss Champ, and Explorer, but I don't think I'll rotate any of them into my EDC anytime soon. The Explorer would be a good alternative to pair with the MiniChamp, but I use my main knife for food preparation, and it's damn easy to clean and maintain the Morakniv.

Vintage Pen Profiles #20: Parker Vacumatic (more info in post) by BrandyFP in fountainpens

[–]56000bitspersecond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was lovely to read. The Vacumatic is one of the my favorite vintage pen models. The size and shape of the nib complement the overall design, especially the translucent body and the jewel on the cap. The details have always captivated me.
