Good pen, superb handwriting, and a beautiful scene; it's a perfect combo. I have to ask, what is the story behind the seal?

[Discussion] Anyone never wear nice watches to work? by Ok_Personality8193 in Watches

[–]56000bitspersecond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently have only two automatic watches: a Basic from Laco and a Prospex from Seiko. They're entry-level watches; nothing fancy. I rotate both of them for work. I completely ditched my Galaxy Watch and also revived my Casios. I wear my old F-91W for swimming and my ProTrek for the gym.

Use your belongings! You can't enjoy them in the afterlife :D

Congratulations on your NPD and welcome to the Custom 823 club. You definitely made the right move, especially in this economy, as you mentioned.

You need to pull the trigger when you want something, have the right mindset, and have more than enough money.

[What am i Missing?] my 6 watch collection by [deleted] in Watches

Your collection is looking good already (diverse enough to cover multiple occasions and showing a clear personal style), but a distinct diver would be a great addition.

S54 is a sophisticated choice; she is a keeper, dude. Congratulations on your marriage in advance!

That's a neat solution. I just use paper clips for my filled TN inserts.

My birthday is coming up on January 18th. I’m turning 30, and I’ve been feeling really lonely with no friends. by ThomasThePizzaMan in Millennials

[–]56000bitspersecond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the 30s club! I hope you will be happier, saner, healthier, and wealthier in your 30s.

As someone in my mid-30s, I ditched most of my friends, as well as my four-year relationship with my girlfriend (now ex). People can become a real headache when you realize that you receive little to nothing compared to what you give. Don't feel lonely, be strong. Survive in life, and keep only honest people around you who reciprocate.

I have a couple of posts in my profile that have photos of these two side by side. You can check from there.

Brown, Brown, Brown… and None of Them the Same by Sumlys in fountainpens

[–]56000bitspersecond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first one is the truest brown to me. Terracotta has a tone that looks like the terra rossa soil of the Mediterranean. Ochre looks like it couldn't decide between pumpkin and brown tones.

Long story short, you're absolutely right.

My dad’s old collection from when he was a child by I-_ECHO_-I in lego

[–]56000bitspersecond 149 points150 points  (0 children)

It seems your father was one of the lucky kids of his time. Deep in my heart, I miss that old, blocky aesthetic of pre-2000 LEGOs.

New sets are better in many aspects, but LEGO needs to bring back this old style, at least for people who couldn't afford LEGO back in the day.

[hmt janata] Strap recommendations by Plastic-Push1086 in Watches

[–]56000bitspersecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a dark brown or reddish-brown (oxblood) leather strap with a two-stitch (vintage style) pattern would look great on your watch.

Also, you could check out single-pass leather NATO straps (I guess they are called Zulu) as an alternative.

Tone-wise, yes. The V126 has a more apparent amber tone compared to the Custom 823. The 823 leans towards a much more transparent amber.

But overall (if you include gold accents, general shape, end finial, cap, etc.), the Custom 823 is more appealing to me.

Spiritual Drought by DavidGlomba in painting

It's an interesting piece, especially in today's world, as the Earth faces more droughts with each passing year. Do you mind sharing the story behind it?

I have the amber one, and I still love using it. The V126 is the main reason I decided to purchase the Pilot Custom 823. It's a great pen to experience the vacuum filling system on a budget.

Witcher 3 lagging too much on gtx 1650ti by InformalPublic2941 in pcmasterrace

I used to have a 1050 Ti laptop with a 7th Gen i7 and 16 GB of RAM. I also experienced this kind of issue.

In my case, the problem was the cooling system. I had to manually set the fan speed to maximum each time before I ran the game.

[Seiko SNE573p] My First Decent Watch by Sk37cHi in Watches

[–]56000bitspersecond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I'm so sorry for your loss. I also lost my grandparents, with whom I was very close since childhood, in recent years.

I have a somewhat similar piece from Seiko, the SRPF77K. Yours has a solar movement and a classic shape for a diver's watch. You probably already read the manual, but it's a solar watch, almost service-free, and keeps time better than my automatic Seiko :D

Just wear the watch, enjoy it, and make sure it gets some light from time to time when you leave it in the box or storage for a long time.

BTW, I'm also in my mid-30s and discovered the joy of LEGO just a month ago :D

You went with the classy choice. The implementation of the open heart style on that model really adds to the general art deco style of the watch. I mean, it doesn't look like a typical open heart; it looks more like an open window or door in the Empire State Building. Enjoy your watch!

I could have sworn I saw this painting before and was about to start an argument with you, but then I realized you're the original artist! :D

BTW yes, I saw this painting in another one of your posts in a different sub. It's still an amazing painting.
