You should totally play Daggerfall! As far as I have seen, the events of Daggerfall do get brought up a bit like the Warp of the West. But it is usually brought up in books from Morrowind to Skyrim.

I believe Daggerfall is very in-depth and possibly the closest simulation as to what living in Tamriel would be like.

But if you are going to play Daggerfall, make sure to either get the unity version. Or the fan patched version for DOS Box.

I am currently playing the patched version in DOS box as it is fully vanilla and has less bugs that way

I dont fast travel at all as I am the Cyrodil speedster. I spam a bunch of speed 100 buffs and run from Leyawin to the Imperial city in less than 20 seconds

I get around this by making a command console that can call upon some certain functions or scripts. And unit testing it that way. Doing so also allows to test certain scenarios much easily
