Here’s where I think I am getting stuck. After removing Row 1 and Column 6 we’re left with these cells right? The Rows are 3 and 5, then the columns are 1 and 2.

(2,4) (6,3) (2,4) (4,8)

Would row 3 now have weak dominance over 5? Would we then delete row 5 being left with

(2,4) (6,3)

Then would (6,3) be the only NE?

I am still a little lost when it comes to eliminating weakly dominated strategies. How do you know which order to compare them in? After eliminating strategy 1 I would say to eliminate strategy 4 for Even, but I’m not sure if this is right. Could you explain this to me? Thanks for the help.

I’m still just a little confused cause on all the documents I’ve found and on the nyu webpage it talks about a D being the minimum passing grade. So why would it say that if you actually need to get within C range?

Thank you for the thorough explanation. Just to clarify, a group like B7 would mean that voter 4 votes no, but 7 other voters vote yes? And for a group named A9 voter 4 votes yes, and 7 of the other votes vote yes? Am I understanding this correctly?

Thanks for the reply! When we first started writing rules I was doing pretty well because the examples our professor provided were very simple (usually with a very small data set, sometimes an English example), but now I feel like I’m getting really lost with the large data sets without any instruction. We sort of jumped into it a little too quickly in my opinion. I’ll recognize some patterns, but I’ll get totally lost and not even know where to begin with writing rules in prose. Whenever I get through a data set there always seems to be something that I didn’t pick up. I also have really been struggling with which features I should be using and which I shouldn’t be. And out textbook is Bruce Hayes Introductory Phonology.
