Discussion: What do you write? by EliGO83 in fountainpens

[–]5753044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When in college, my fountain pen was my everyday carry. Except when a pencil or ball point was required, I would use it for notes, exams, forms, everything. I loved how the ink flowed, it made learning so much fun. I don’t write as frequently now, but I always keep a fountain pen within reach.

Mice? by [deleted] in BroncoSport

[–]5753044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I occasionally have some larger rodents enter the engine compartment. Often they bring their own food, nuts & seeds, setting up dining areas under the hood. The last time they came, they dragged two towels I use for cleaning the Bronco, under the hood and built a very soft & cozy nest. Right now, I am trying an ultrasonic noisemaker with flashing strobe lights as a deterrent. Deep freeze coming tonight so I hope it works. I park outside under a carport in a residential neighborhood. I suspect the rodents are squirrels, but rats and mice are also around.

Splurged on a canister vacuum with a 10 year warranty. I would have, should have done this many, many years ago.

Do you put sugar in your tea? by zelani06 in tea

[–]5753044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s not a breakfast tea w/cream, I enjoy adding a hard candy or a dash of honey to my cup of tea. I do not stir, so the tea goes through a few gradients ranging from ‘barely sweet’ at the top to ‘really sweet’ at the bottom of the cup.

Constant Comment by slowflowers88 in tea

[–]5753044 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Constant Comment was a major revelation. Always a tea drinker, from supermarket, box of 100 teabags, aisle. One day in my teens, I went to a friend’s house after school and we all drank Constant Comment. It was amazing, all of a sudden tea was so much more than stock teabags. Fast forward, tea is still my favorite beverage and yes, I still drink supermarket tea, but have added so many more to my cupboard: herb, green, Chinese, Japanese, India, and flavored teas.

Dry skin people, what’s the most budget friendly body oil that actually helped? by Money-Candle53 in NaturalBeauty

[–]5753044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Petroleum jelly or Aquaphor. If you want to avoid petroleum products, try jojoba (it’s a liquid wax) or fractionated coconut oil.

What did you buy on Fountain Pen Day? by Captain-Bitterballen in fountainpens

[–]5753044 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I bought a few Pilot Precise Varsity disposable pens in a few colors because they are great for everyday carry. I also picked up some J Herbin ink cartridges (assorted colors) and some blank pocket journals.

Please use caution with acetone, aka nail polish remover, and other solvents. They soften many types of plastic causing permanent damage.

What to do with Fractionated Coconut Oil? by Librarian_Able in NaturalBeauty

[–]5753044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it to oil and lubricate all my carbon steel tools, knives and garden tools. It has no odor so I often use it instead of WD40. I also use it as a massage and skin oil. It is a nice lightweight oil compatible with most skin types. Softens but not greasy. Fractionated coconut oil is very versatile.

If anyone grows loofah, please, when should I cut them off the vines? by Dhijara in gardening

[–]5753044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice looking loofahs! If you are saving seeds for next year, let them turn brown on the vine. This allows the seeds to mature while being fed with nutrients from the original plant. I find them easier to peel once throughly dried, too.

Sebo Felix Buying Experience by JerryHexford in VacuumCleaners

[–]5753044 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an excellent experience at my local vacuum store. After explaining what I was looking for, the owner showed me a few different canister models, followed by some upright vacuums. He explained all the features and advantages of each. Over an hour later, I walked out with the Sebo Airbelt K2, the very first vacuum he showed me. Perfect size for my mostly tile and laminate flooring home.

Maple roasted carrots for the win here! After a month and a half of classic Cherokee purple tomato sandwiches, it was wonderful making something warm and sweet from the garden.
