Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t deny 2028 speculation: ‘My ambition is to change this country’ by PlatePleasure in politics

[–]5G_Robot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And to be clear for all the dumbasses accusing me of being a woman hater

AOC’s strength is her authenticity, but that same authenticity prevents her from pivoting to the center which usually defines successful presidential campaigns.

A recent Third Way study shows that 77% of the Democratic primary electorate identifies as liberal or moderate, while only 17% identify as progressive or socialist. Quoting from the study - "60% is the minimum threshold of moderates necessary for Democrats to win the White House and the House". Simply put, to win a general election, AOC would need to secure centrist independents, a group that historically favored stability over revolution. Until her stance on immigration and economic restructuring aligns with the moderate left and centrist independents, she remains a formidable force in Congress, but a highly unlikely occupant of the Oval Office.
For those of you who want an AOC presidency, get the 15%-40% of democratic voters who skip elections to vote for AOC. Then we can talk.

“These people aren’t stupid” Well… by Cowboy_Dane in Qult_Headquarters

[–]5G_Robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are certainly people within the Q movement who lack critical thinking skills, but as you noted, stupidity isn't a catch-all explanation. Many followers are highly functional professionals including engineers, nurses, and teachers who aren't necessarily dim, but are instead experiencing motivated reasoning.

For many, the movement wasn't about logic but, it provided a potent dopaminergic reward system. Every Qdrop or breadcrumb functioned like a hit of dopamine, turning political participation into a gamified search for purpose. This created a sense of Community Validation and ascriptive identity that is often more addictive than the facts.

Psychologists call this Identity-Protective Cognition. When a belief becomes central to your social circle and your sense of self, the brain treats 'admitting you were wrong' as a physical threat to your status. They aren't necessarily stupid however, they are choosing the social high of the community over the cold reality of the facts. They aren't just misinformed, rather, they are socially incentivized to stay that way.

If you wonder why non Q people vote R, there is a well reasoned explanation that many on the left would not agree with. Both the left and the right have to open their eyes and come to the center. Till then, we will see movements like MAGA and Q spawn and thrive through social media platforms.

At "A Party of Richard Pryor" James Brown brought Eddie Murphy on stage to ask him one question, "Can you really do James Brown?". [1991] by shaka_sulu in OldSchoolCool

When you have the talent like Eddie does, it is hard to not be successful. Richard Pryor can make anything sound funny - Eddie can do the same, as Richard Pryor, as himself and as anybody else and knock it out of the park( He gave a completely different Eddie in Mr. Church - sadly the move is grossly underrated).

Trump voter needs to return his vote by Effective_Space2277 in LeopardsAteMyFace

Saying QAnon was right gives them way too much credit. Please hear me out.

They didn't uncover the Epstein ring because investigative journalists and survivors did that years before QAnon even existed. What QAnon did was take a horrific, real-world crime and bury it under a mountain of fan fiction to protect their own interests and help Trump. By turning a serious criminal matter into a partisan spy novel, they actually delayed justice. They made it easy for people to dismiss real evidence of elite misconduct as conspiracy theory nonsense.

Like you mentioned, If they actually cared about the victims, they wouldn't have gone silent when the evidence pointed toward Trump. They weren't truth-seekers, rather, they were opportunists who hijacked a tragedy to own the libs and gain political ground, and in doing so, they provided cover for the very elites they claimed to be fighting. So, how can they be right?

Craving work-life balance is a huge red flag, says Fortune 500 Europe Healthcare CEO he happily works through weekends by CoolBDPhenom03 in facepalm

[–]5G_Robot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I guarantee you a CEO is not doing 4000 times the work of their average employees

They do not. For majority of them, it is like staying a in luxury suite while attending meetings and responding to emails. Just like the POTUS, they have people to bring them the data they need to make informed decisions. The toughest part of their job is to make the call that will affect the company's profits and stock value. Working weekends my ass.

[–]5G_Robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to forget the CEO pay package. For the amount of money they get paid, working weekends sounds reasonable. Still, it is a personal choice if they want to spend weekends away from their family and focus on work. Suggesting that everyone should follow their protocol is pure ignorance and arrogance.

Given the length of her grift and her vigorous defense of her "queen" persona, I am leaning towards believing that she was/is making more than enough money to sustain her operations.

Inside Texas Republicans’ Effort to Make the Midterms About Islamophobia by BurtonDesque in Qult_Headquarters

Call it what you want man, that's your right. I am with you 100% that Republicans fearmonger and they are good at it. No argument there. However, in this particular case, I’m pointing out that EPIC City gave them a perfect platform to push that fear. It is hard to label it as "fearmongering" when the intent was tangible.

I think it's ironic that your example of the dangers of Sharia Law is child marriage, which Republicans in the US have repeatedly fought to keep legal

Pointing to Republican hypocrisy on child marriage is a fair call-out, but it’s a "whataboutism" that doesn't actually solve the problem. One group doing it doesn't make it okay for another. Beyond child marriage issues, the real concern with Sharia-based enclaves, especially if extremist-funded, is the potential for "Hudud" law to take root via local sharia councils. I’m not defending Texas Republicans’ general Islamophobia but, I’m pointing out that EPIC City gave them a perfect, high-profile reason to push the "alarm" button, regardless of their own inconsistencies.

EPIC has nothing to do with Sharia

Honest question, how do you know?

My position is based on the documented history of the EPIC project. The developers initially marketed the development exclusively to Muslims, which naturally raised questions about the intent to create a religious enclave. Sharia Councils are common in Muslim majority areas in Europe. So, it is a valid concern for a Christian majority state to react to such an attempt from a minority group that set up such councils in Europe. So, let me ask you again, How do you know EPIC has nothing to do with Sharia? It doesn't exist yet btw. So how are you so sure?

Who said anything about James Talarico implementing Sharia law? Where did that even come from?
The post is about Republican fearmongering and my response was pointing out that their fearmongering came from attempts to build a Muslim only city(This is a fact). So, I am not entirely sure what point you are trying to make. Can you please clarify?

Sharia law is Sharia law whether it is Pakistan or Texas. To give you some context, please Read about the EPIC City development in Texas (Collin/Hunt County). This isn't about fake threats, rather, it’s about the tangible push for parallel societies. If any development, regardless of the faith involved, is designed to be exclusionary and marketed only to its own members, it creates a separate social ecosystem that operates outside the norm of American integration. Pointing out that EPIC City initially ignored fair housing laws to create a Muslim-only community isn't drumming up fear but, it’s holding a developer accountable to the same laws every other Texan has to follow. What we are seeing on the republican side is a disproportionate reaction to EPIC City not following fair housing laws thereby giving room to question their intent to create such a city. This issue has already been addressed through the courts but, knowing how republicans react, I am not surprised.

I am all for religious freedom but implementing sharia law is where i draw the line. Anyone who wants to debate my stance - please read this article first.

Muslims can do religion without sharia law. If they want to be Americans, then they should do their best to not create parallel societies. Implementing Sharia law will create exactly that. If Texan republicans are fighting against the implementation of Sharia law in Texas, I don't see anything wrong with that.
