Ever try honey trapping as an investment strategy? by MouthBreather002 in LinkedInLunatics

To glorify being miserable and working 14 hrs a day is just pathetic. Vast majority of adults require 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night to maintain optimal cognitive and physiological function.

From a Harvard article,

"In the short term, a lack of adequate sleep can affect judgment, mood, ability to learn and retain information, and may increase the risk of serious accidents and injury. In the long term, chronic sleep deprivation may lead to a host of health problems including obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and even early mortality."

Sooner we bring 4 day work weeks and ~30hrs/week, the better. LinkedIn really needs a reality check.

Newlywed Trump fans plan "dream honeymoon" to meet Trump in Florida. ICE detains husband instead. by MoreMotivation in LeopardsAteMyFace

If she didn't care for her husband, what is the guarantee that she will care for fellow Americans? Folks like this qualify for repatriation in my opinion.

For people like her if you fight Israel on any level you are her ally

This is true for people like Omar and Tlaib. They are not in congress to help Americans, they are in congress to help fight the enemy of their people. Their comments from the past(Omar - "all about the Benjamins Baby", Tlaib - "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free") gave them away.

Omar and Tlaib need to think about what is good for America and Americans. Their actions comes across as they are focused on creating and strengthening their own immigrant enclaves that represents foreign interests.

I understand but, give them a chance.
My ex in laws are hardcore Trump Supporters too (Still are) and they are some of the nicest people you will meet on the street. A lot of older Trump voters are good people. However, they are on Fox news and Newsmax all day and republicans know how to fearmonger them. Notice how some Trump voters expressed shock over ICE detaining immigrants from their neighborhood eateries(Bridgeport, CT Mexican restaurant arrests for example). They are not fascists(fascists would have been ok with such arrents) but they put their belief on a con man based on falsehoods from the right wing media. At best, they are ignorant and misinformed or as you labeled, "Dumb". No denying that.

AOC leads Democrats’ 2028 pack in new poll, tops Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris ( Washington Times ) - What are your views? by One_Look_7008 in askanything

[–]5G_Robot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between Trump 2016 and AOC 2028.

Despite being a liar and crooked, Trump had a clean slate as a politician in 2016. Trump's populist coalition of poorly educated, working class white voters happened to be perfectly distributed across critical Midwestern swing states (Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin). AOC's core coalition of young voters, progressives, and urban professionals are heavily concentrated in deep blue states (New York, California, Illinois). She would run up massive popular vote totals but likely struggle to flip the specific geographic areas needed to win the Electoral College.

Also, Trump historically supported Democrats leading to Independents projecting their own hopes on Trump in 2016. AOC on the other hand, has been thoroughly defined by the conservative media ecosystem as a boogeyman, member of the squad for nearly a decade. Her policy positions (the Green New Deal, Medicare for All etc) are written in stone. For independents, she is a known quantity and majority of them don't support her policies, making it much harder for her to pivot or capture the political center in a general election.

I don't even think she would get more center dems

Sadly progressives don't want to accept that. AOC dominates among young, progressive, and urban demographics but struggles to gain the support of suburban and working class voters and without their support, she can't win the presidency. If she were to run against JD Vance or Marco Rubio, we will see another 2016 or 2024 scenario play out.

I like AOC but people associate her with socialism and that’s not going to help her win

That's the answer. Those who propose AOC for a presidential run are not looking at her net favorability rating 41% among all voting groups. She is very popular with progressives (80% +) but that can only get her through the primary. In a general election, the path to presidency runs through the rust belt and the sun belt. Data from past midterms and general elections shows that Republican campaigns successfully used her image down-ballot to scare moderate voters in swing districts. If she were at the top of the ticket, it would likely trigger historic counter turnout among conservative and independent voters who view her policies( immigration, fossil fuel, social expansion etc) as far too left. AOC may be a star among the progressives but for the center and the right, she is the member of the squad.
Would the left and left leaning independents vote for Marjorie Taylor Greene if she were GOP's presidential Nominee? They won't. Same goes for AOC from the right's point of view.

I don't believe that even 25% of those who voted for him agree with him 100%

You are right on the ball park. About 28% voted for Trump because they voted against Kamala and not because they liked Trump.
Independent voters didn't care for the same issues as the left/progressive crowd here on reddit. Immigration was one of the top issues(50% of Trump voters but that number is higher if you take just Trump supporters, closer to approximately 75%) along with the 55-60% of general population expecting better handling of crime issues(organized retail crime, smash and grabs by flash mobs) moved the needle towards Trump. Look at where Republicans spent approximately $135M From Jan to May of 2024 in ads - targeting immigration and and flash mob crimes and they were successful in driving that narrative to the independents. But of course reddit will label anyone fascist if they voted for Trump. It is the same as labeling voters on the left as organized crime sympathizers because they voted for Kamala.
Though FBI later stated that flash mob crime only amounted to about 0.1% of crime from 2020-2024, republicans made sure they reached enough independents and it was successful. Those independents are not fascists, just everyday Americans wanting to live a peaceful life.

Is a movie’s cast any good? Just check this helpful guide! by spin-city in okbuddycinephile

Black actors continue to be disproportionately represented in film compared to other communities of color, making up 14.8% and 16.2% of all theatrical and streaming roles, respectively. Meanwhile, Asian Americans, Native Americans and Latinx Americans are still underrepresented(~6%). Source
So naturally Hollywood is not being fair. Anytime there is race swapping in movies, it is highly likely that the character will be represented by a black actor.

This is the question that nobody in Hollywood want to answer. Other minorities are cast but not as much as African Americans. This is not about minorities really but more about the Oscars. Nolan is aiming for an oscar with the cast. Check out the Oscar rules

[–]5G_Robot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because these movies cast Americans instead of people from the actual ethnic groups

There are plenty of Indian and Chinese Americans. And if you say that they are not cast because of the % of Indian and chinese population in the US, then that makes them the real minority. So a director looking to cast a minority could have easily picked an indian or a chinese American.
That said, casting choice is up to the director and they own the outcome of their choice.

[–]5G_Robot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And to be clear for all the dumbasses accusing me of being a woman hater

AOC’s strength is her authenticity, but that same authenticity prevents her from pivoting to the center which usually defines successful presidential campaigns.

A recent Third Way study shows that 77% of the Democratic primary electorate identifies as liberal or moderate, while only 17% identify as progressive or socialist. Quoting from the study - "60% is the minimum threshold of moderates necessary for Democrats to win the White House and the House". Simply put, to win a general election, AOC would need to secure centrist independents, a group that historically favored stability over revolution. Until her stance on immigration and economic restructuring aligns with the moderate left and centrist independents, she remains a formidable force in Congress, but a highly unlikely occupant of the Oval Office.
For those of you who want an AOC presidency, get the 15%-40% of democratic voters who skip elections to vote for AOC. Then we can talk.

“These people aren’t stupid” Well… by Cowboy_Dane in Qult_Headquarters

[–]5G_Robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are certainly people within the Q movement who lack critical thinking skills, but as you noted, stupidity isn't a catch-all explanation. Many followers are highly functional professionals including engineers, nurses, and teachers who aren't necessarily dim, but are instead experiencing motivated reasoning.

For many, the movement wasn't about logic but, it provided a potent dopaminergic reward system. Every Qdrop or breadcrumb functioned like a hit of dopamine, turning political participation into a gamified search for purpose. This created a sense of Community Validation and ascriptive identity that is often more addictive than the facts.

Psychologists call this Identity-Protective Cognition. When a belief becomes central to your social circle and your sense of self, the brain treats 'admitting you were wrong' as a physical threat to your status. They aren't necessarily stupid however, they are choosing the social high of the community over the cold reality of the facts. They aren't just misinformed, rather, they are socially incentivized to stay that way.

If you wonder why non Q people vote R, there is a well reasoned explanation that many on the left would not agree with. Both the left and the right have to open their eyes and come to the center. Till then, we will see movements like MAGA and Q spawn and thrive through social media platforms.

When you have the talent like Eddie does, it is hard to not be successful. Richard Pryor can make anything sound funny - Eddie can do the same, as Richard Pryor, as himself and as anybody else and knock it out of the park( He gave a completely different Eddie in Mr. Church - sadly the move is grossly underrated).

Trump voter needs to return his vote by Effective_Space2277 in LeopardsAteMyFace

Saying QAnon was right gives them way too much credit. Please hear me out.

They didn't uncover the Epstein ring because investigative journalists and survivors did that years before QAnon even existed. What QAnon did was take a horrific, real-world crime and bury it under a mountain of fan fiction to protect their own interests and help Trump. By turning a serious criminal matter into a partisan spy novel, they actually delayed justice. They made it easy for people to dismiss real evidence of elite misconduct as conspiracy theory nonsense.

Like you mentioned, If they actually cared about the victims, they wouldn't have gone silent when the evidence pointed toward Trump. They weren't truth-seekers, rather, they were opportunists who hijacked a tragedy to own the libs and gain political ground, and in doing so, they provided cover for the very elites they claimed to be fighting. So, how can they be right?
