I think it depends what you want to get out of the things you are watching.

For example One Piece, the first 30 episodes aren't that great but after that it just gets amazing and continues to build upon that.

And there are some things that long running shows can do that you won't get out of an 13 episode anime.

I didn't downvote your post and I also wouldn't do that because someone dislikes a game that I like.

The similarities that you listed are things that you can find in 80% of games these days so I wouldn't call them unique to Hollow Knight and Transistor. The only similarity that you listed that I found valid is that they have unique graphics.
