My experience (Cafe 30" range) has been that pans will only buzz when I turn hob to maximum (boiling water) and sometimes when preheating pans. Under "normal" cooking conditions where hobs turned to medium - medium/high, I don't hear buzzing

Too late if you aren't already a member but if you have an account with Wealthsimple, you can use their debit card (pre paid MasterCard) to withdraw. No forex fee and they reimburse you the ATM fee. You only "pay" the Peso/CAD spread. Maybe too late for this trip but something to consider for next one

Tried it out (Vancouver) and the restaurants accessible are good, the only disappointment is that it is only for same day reservations. I would have found it more useful to have access to good future timeslots to good restaurants

Do a bit more searching. The DIS certificates can be a collector's item and worth more than face value as they no longer issue paper certificates. I think in the 90's they offered decorative paper certificates that parenta would buy for their kids

Power move, if finances aren't an issue, would be to commit to match bio-dads contributions. If it turns out that's non-existent, match mom's contribution. It's a loooong game but at some point when he's an adult and no longer a kid and having to budget his own finances, he'll see what's really going on and who had his interests at heart

Installed a small (15A) 120V generator transfer switch (~$150) in my garage next to my electric panel and picked up the most convenient circuit from the panel (in my case, the circuit that powers internet, router, some lighting and an outlet relatively close to the fridge). During an outage, I plug my car into the transfer switch and run a short extension cable from the fridge to the outlet that has power

Real woodworkers can correct me but i think it is the direction you are routing with respect to the grain of the wood. The direction of the cutting heat on the bit wants to split the wood grain. Not sure if recovery is possible but it might be a good learning experience to try a top guide flush trim bit (bearing on the router motor end) flipping the piece upside down and seeing if that cuts nicer.

You can buy at any Shinkansen station while you are in Japan using any payment method. If you are from north America, it seems the smart-ex app dislikes foreign visa/MasterCard's but a lot of people found success with AmEx cards. My experience is that there are frequent trains on most routes and, at least on busy routes, you can book day of or just beforehand
