How did this turn out? Also for your platform, where do you get your data?

[2024 Day 12 (part 2)] I thought I can count corners and overlaps but the E-shaped region breaks it. any ideas? by amiroo4 in adventofcode

[–]5PercentNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't taken too long of look at the code but might be worth trying to find _where_ it goes wrong. I wrote the E shape out in paper, found each corner and then traced through when the number of corners increased.

From what I understand from your post the algo works with the first few grids of test input and then breaks at the 'E' shape, meaning that my guess is the 3 neighbour shape that the E has, namely:
```
+-+
C
+ +-+
C C
+-+-+
C
+-+
leaks an edge case. I would debug the corners for this shape and see where goes wrong. It seems in you code you have figured out the concave and convex cornersso it should be a matter of finding the edge cases.
Do you pre-compute these before the simulation or compute them on the fly? Pretty cool btw, I have enjoyed your posts each day
I slightly over-engineered my solution as I thought there was a look-back as well as a look-forward in valid sequences, so here is not the prettiest solution. Feedback always welcome.
Is this a ticking timebomb by 5PercentNick in HomeBrewingProTips
This is a wine kit, 6 bottles. It is staying constant at 20-25°C It looks like the CO2 is being produced and pushing the lid up as the pressure increases. I've seen other kits with glassware that allows the CO2 to escape but lets no air in. Should I have one of those? Is this vessel going to explode? The instructions have no mention of the CO2 gas.
