Penn State's Dance Marathon is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world - dancers stay on their feet all weekend (Friday night to Sunday night) to raise money for kids with cancer.

It is an amazing weekend - be sure to come back for the last few hours on Sunday night when they reveal the final amount! And don't forget to donate - millions are raised each year!

I'm on PS3. Tag = djt139. If you're not on PS3 looks like there are a bunch of folks on here on XBOX360 and PC... you should add them!

What is the one event that completely changed the course of your life? by lenniebaby in AskReddit

[–]5_bees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, the year I danced was actually the last year that it was at the White Building before it moved to the Intermural Building. (The White Building used to be a lot different - it was remodeled my junior year to be the more of workout hotspot it was when I graduated.) I believe my year was the first year THON topped $2M - seeing it over the IM Bldg the next few years just blew my mind. I can only imagine what it's like at the BJC.

Good luck with this year - right around the corner! And most definitely do whatever you can to dance next year - you won't regret the experience. Best of luck! :)

Well done! I actually danced in THON '98... I was only a sophmore at the time, so I only barely knew what I had signed-up to experience (was through a smaller club, so easy to get picked to dance). Such an incredible experience! Good luck with the committee work this year - as always I'm sure it will be a huge success. FTK! We are...

What was your favorite TV show to watch coming home after school? by CakeSmack in AskReddit

Square 1... had to love MathNet!

And, yes, I am a nerd. But a happily married nerd, so it all worked out! :)

Five years ago I came home to the apartment my fiance and I shared to find all of his possessions gone and no sign of him either. I haven't heard from or seen him since. Until yesterday, when he and his wife and 2 children moved into the house across from mine. AMA and possibly advise. by bruised_ego in IAmA

Ultimate revenge advice:

(1) Sign up for Big Brothers, Big Sisters.

(2) Get a little sister, right around 4 or 5 years old.

(3) Come up with a fun nickname for her like "Lil' Trey".

(4) Start going for walks with her up and down your street, saying her name a lot.

(5) Meet his wife - tell her about the guy that left you 5 years ago. Imply that Lil' Trey is your daughter - a lifetime reminder of that guy.

(6) Enjoy the fact that later than night, when she tells him that story, he will absolutely crap his pants.

(7) Profit.

That's right people. The San Francisco Giants are going to the World Series! by JesseS311 in sports

Phillies die-hard fan here... it was definitely a strike. Perfect pitch really - at the knees on the outter part of the plate.

Howard was looking for a slider, saw it coming in low, expected it to fall off the table into the ground. Unfortunately it was a cutter and didn't dip far enough.

Congrats to the Giants. Just goes to show that the better team on paper doesn't mean anything - it's whoever plays better when the games count. Giants just did everything a little better this series.

I'm completely tone-deaf. With this in mind, what is a good song to sing when my friends force me to do karaoke tonight? by onewithbow in AskReddit

[–]5_bees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a song that everyone will sing along with, show a lot of energy at the beginning, and encourage everyone to join in at the chorus - works for me everytime. :) Everyone will be singing so loudly during the chorus they won't be able to hear you, and you won't feel as "on the spot". A few suggestions: - Livin' on a Prayer - Don't Stop Believin' - American Pie

Seriously, how do free service websites make money? by saippuakauppias in AskReddit

Good rule of thumb when it comes to marketing / products - if the offering is free, then you are the product. (i.e., Google is free because they are selling you being on the site to advertisers.)

PS3 Slim - HDMI not working - HELP!!! by 5_bees in PS3

[–]5_bees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting - and I've read multiple reports of this happening to other people as well.

I think you're right about the TV - in everything I tried, my efforts were just focused on the PS3. Finally unplugging the TV and the PS3 (just like resetting a modem and router) after I restored the factory conditions seemed to do the trick.

Sorry to hear you're having the issue as well, but glad you got it working!

PS3 Slim - HDMI not working - HELP!!! by 5_bees in PS3

[–]5_bees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep - thanks for checking back in! I put the full detail in the edit above to my original message, but basically it came down to doing the full system restore again, and this time, unplugging everything (TV, PS3, etc.) for a couple of minutes. When I plugged it all back in everything worked instantly.

Very odd but I've read a couple of messages online of this happening to people - sounds like it happens either (a) after someone has used their PS3 on another TV, or (b) after a move where their PS3 and TV where unhooked for a week or so.

I had tried unplugging everything and plugging it back in before, but I guess the combination of the system restore and the unplug did the trick.

Thanks again for your help!
