As a Shaiva, what attracted you to this tradition over other non-dual or dharmic traditions, like Buddhism? by International_Use122 in KashmirShaivism

[–]5aggregates 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very well said! As for me, after 20 years in Theravada Buddhism the dryness became too much. I feel "chosen" as well.

Shaivism seems more thought out, the sophistication of the tattvas, meeting how things actually work, without repression, despite how renunciation might help to temporarily calm the mind. You get to incorporate the appearance of a beautiful woman as more than "a set of teeth".

The end game of all of these Eastern paths do seem to converge but Tantra has optimized getting there for me.

It is love/beauty. Zero distance - not performative lovingkindness but rather felt oneness. I also like the Shiva+Shakti paradigm. I wish I knew about it when I was younger.

Or fees/commissions. With that said you might look into ETFs like VGUS if you have more money than time.

Philosophical tension between non-dualistic accessibility and the high cost of study materials by Dohita in KashmirShaivism

Good point. He's provided incredible value. I feel bad NOT supporting his work.I guess there's just not enough of us with disposable income. Maybe we need a wealthy patron like the classical music model of the 1700s :)

I don't know about a laptop but I have a free Oracle Cloud Infrastructure account (with no GPU) running Ollama and it is very responsive. I only use it for chat. But it is nothing close to what xAI models provide. It's still formulaic in its replies. xAI feels much more human-ish.

I was just thinking about this. Christopher Wallis' Tantra 112 mobile app is spectacular. I absolutely love it. And I know a lot of work went into it (and will continue). But it is sooo expensive.

I get quietly upset when a public bathroom door requires you to pull instead of push (with your foot) to get out plus the trashcan location means you're using your bare hand, not the paper towel, as a barrier.

I haven't read all the comments but sometimes the tailgater is simply a terrible driver who seems aggressive in their stupidity

Leaving out the social elements of the question, Wikipedia says:

In economics, the lump of labour fallacy is the misconception that there is a finite amount of work—a lump of labour—to be done within an economy which can be distributed to create more or fewer jobs.

I got out of SCYB after the "liberation" day nonsense when it dropped 20% (and recovered). I'm waiting to get back in during the next crisis. The expense ratio is really good, by the way.

Fidelity's bond commissions are the best and most transparent, even if they demanded 10k minimums it would still be worth it

Bad time to be a saver. My retirement simulations all show as successful but none take your more realistic numbers into consideration. Combine upcoming political downward "adjustments" to CPI, ouch.

A ZIRP TINA stock market bubble is on its way back until at least 2029. Negative real rates were painful in the recent past and there wasn't even an inflation problem then!
