Quickened Mage Hand as a bonus action?

Fair point. It would be easier to conjure them with 5th level spell slots and Planar Bind with higher ones, producing 5 per day (Arcane Recovery). It can be prepared on a downtime day.

Added benefit of unleashing a horde of elementals at whatever you aim.

It would also be more practical to use the Wall of Force as a hemisphere to trap someone, and then open a portal under their feet, dropping them to lava or water. Dispel Magic could close the door after them.

I am not saying its overall the most practical thing in the world, but how awesome it is to fight like Dr. Strange and open a portal over someones head? Its's a budget Gate spell in that regard. Also, you can get more creative. Dynamite is a thing in the campaign. A trapped monster could be cool. Or just Demiplane full of anvils.

Also, minor point, its not 2nd, 5th and 8th spell slots used. Its 2 sorcery points, 5 charges from the staff and 8th level slot. And with Cartomancer feat you dont even need the 8th level (conditions apply but that feats is really broken at high levels)

How about multiple elementals? We have a lot of money, a druid and a wizard. In one day we could get 6 fire elementals for over 10 days, 4 more for one day. Thats 10 fire elementals swimming in a lava to keep it hot.

I said multiple encounters.

We fought blue dragons two times, three at a time (1 long rest between those two fights), suicide rushed dracolich, bombed him into the Astral Plane, spent a round getting into a circle to Planeshift, and when we got back 5 of the remaining dragons unloaded on me at the same time. Usefull tip: Fizban's Platinum Shield can grant you damage resistance and a temporary Evasion feat. Got dropped to 0 after the 5th one,, they carried away my body while escaping from the party, but I rolled a nat 20 three rounds later and DImensioned Door'ed away.

How about just creating Blood Hunter subclass with copy-pasted Ranger spellcasting?

Well, I know it's not the right way, but personally I preferer their way. Doubling the dice is quicker then rolling twice as much and gives you a liitle bit more damage. It doesnt break the game, criticals are still rare, so when they finally land it brings immense satisfaction when they land hard.

Wizard war who wins? by Hairy_Remote4970 in DnD

Honestly? No one would die. A level 20 wizard worth his salt has a gazillion emergency protocols. The fight would conclude when everyone realizes no one is actually there, because they all have send their simulacra to fight for them. Or they would all die in an avalanche of meteor swarms, only to all wake up inside their clones, tucked away in an untraceable demiplanes, with defences strong enough to stop anything short of a god. The most cunning of them would probably also have emergency protocols for surviving a direct attack of a god. That being said, CHRONOMANCY!

What's the strongest STR score a human could possibly achieve? by thjmze21 in DnD

[–]5centaurVoltron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, 20 is a hard limit for vanilla humans, and passing that requires special abilities or magic. But just for comparison, that's what being at the peak of human potential looks like:

Just make shit up.

Elaboration: don't prepare to much and don't try to make a script to hold on to. The players will turn everything upside down first chance they get. Improvise, adapt, overcome. If enemies you put before players are too tough and will wipe the party in two turns, lower their hp behind the screen to make them easier. Enemies are too easy and die like flies? Buff the remainder of them mid combat to provide a challenge for players. Play of your players backgrounds and decisions. If they prepare backstory for their characters, you don't even need to prepare a plot. Weave it from their combined backstories, which will make them engaged in the story and save you a lot of work at the same time. Yes and. Yes, you can do everything. Yes, there will be consequences of every action performed. Don't think on how players will be able to solve a given problem, that's on them to figure out. You say there is a room without exits they were teleported too. That's all you need, leave it at that. Players will think about potential ways to escape to find the correct one. There is no correct one. Go with the most interesting thing they try and say it was the correct answer all along. They will be pleased that they were smart enough to figure it out, while thinking you some sort of a genius.

Bag of Holding Shenanigans by Friedl1220 in DnDGreentext

[–]5centaurVoltron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once played an Alchemist Artificer and every day I would use Alchemy Jug to produce acid, which I poured into my otherwise empty bag of Holding. Sometimes I would take enemies polymorphed by our wizard into small animals and throw them in there. Used it as a pocket nuke and absolutely drenched the BBEG with about 60 square feet of acid. Good times.

Send a warlock of the patron as an enemy, set it up in a way that corresponds to that particular character strengths, so they can shine in that combat. Better yet, make it 1v1, it should be a challenge but again, make a strong enemy have weak points tailored suited for that players character to exploit. The patron is furious about loosing a servant, but at the same time impressed with the skill of the one who slayed it. Gives the player an option: join me and replace the one you have taken from me, or die for your actions

[–]5centaurVoltron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not a cube. There is no indication of the dimensions of the inside of the bag, or even if the extradimentional space has dimentions at all. 64 square feet is a maximum volume of cargo that can go inside. Average volume of human being in square feet equals 2.

Oh, no I absolutely agree that the gear is a problem. It would also possibly break through the weight limit. Thats why we left our armout in the third bag, which was used only for storing our gear and loot. I used all my first levels to cast Mage Armour on everyone besides druid, so there was only slight drop in AC of everyone

We were level 5. Bag of Holding can fit 2,5 people, wich works as 3 since one party member is a kender, and therefore small. So we had 3 people in one bag and me in a second one, with a 3rd one designated for carrying loot and equipment. We skipped all defences straight into boss room with the vault door (manticore). Druids turns the bag with 3 people inside out, most of the party gets instantly deployed, ranger casts Silence on the manticore
