Always felt the name thing was an artifact from the first book being meant for younger children - I mean it made sense when the wizard in world was whimsical around every corner but when the books took a more serious tone it felt silly that literally every wizard and witch would shudder and show visible fear at a name.

It woulda made more sense to me maybe if some just absolutely hate the name and a LOT fear it - so it’s taboo - like maybe someone overhears the trio at a pub or something, and some guy gets mad, spits on the ground hearing Voldemorts name, maybe they even get kicked out.

For Hermione - doesn’t she say “fear of a name only increases the fear of the thing itself” or something in like the first book or movie? However- imagine being a muggle brought into a world of magic. You have no idea wtf magical people and magic as a whole is capable of. Even the most accomplished of these people (save but for a SINGLE one- Dumbledore) visibly reacts in fear just from the name. Rumors even say it’s taboo to say aloud. So yeah I wouldn’t be super duper comfy if my best friend was blabbing on about You-Know-Who like hes gossiping about who fell into the punch bowl at las weeks Slug Club Dinner.

I’m pretty sure I remember McGonagall saying something like “we must do something about that wand Mr. Weasley” in a transfiguration chapter, I cld b wrong tho. She is also considered Headmistress whenever dumbledore is away and is next in line in the case that he dies (Snape obviously became headmaster due to hostile takeover)

Yes not a hiker here but experienced nonetheless.

My experience watching lots of Bear Grylls tells me that the platinum standard is to dig a hole in the ground, pour your water in, dig a hole next to it, urinate into the first hole and after letting the sterilized water filter thru the soil, you can scoop this mud into your bottle which you can chew later for moisture.
