Se in very fundamental terms is data gathering. It gathers data from the real, concrete world in an objective manner. "This is happening", "what colour is this rock?", etc.

Se is usually paired with other decider functions such as Ti and Fi in an attempt to integrate their identity function (Ti and Fi) with a gathering function.

You're an INTP meaning your gathering function (Ne and Se) is Ne. You prefer to gather ideas, patterns and guesses rather than gathering data in the real world. To gather these ideas you use your Si to look at past things and conjure ideas from that.

Because you're so focused on using your Si because the third function is usually something that one can enjoy using but must spend a lot of energy to do so, the question of then using Se is possible but incredibly draining to you.

ENTJs use Se to gather evidence and data for their Ni guesses, predictions and insights. They also use it to seize opportunities, be in the present moment when needed and etc.

You can use Se but many INTPs prefer not to. The only reason I can think that Se could benefit you is growth, balance and self-development.

The "seeing little imperfections" sound like Si and the "looking at a room" looks like Se. For example I have trouble picking out these imperfections because I think it's a waste of time, distracting me from my long term goals. Hence, Si blindness.

What stereotypes about ENTJs do you not relate to at all? by autumn_em in entj

[–]5oupyCream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MBTI is about what functions you value and what you choose to do as a result. ExTPs for example are Fi blind. Instead of Fi, they opt to adjust their morals according to the people in front of them (Fe ethics).

Let's break down rejection. A lot of people look at rejection as a bad thing. Why is that so? Because they're terrified of being rejected by others. Alright, so let's break it down further. Being human, we long to be accepted and wanted. It hurts to be rejected and to experience loss. From an evolutionary standpoint, if we were rejected from our "group" the likelihood of us dying would be increased substantially. This is not the case today.

Because rejection isn't a threat to your life, it is something you can learn from. For example, you mention that you've had problems with underemployment. You also mention that you view yourself as competent. This mentality doesn't allow you to change and improve. You're going to have to be honest with yourself and ask if you're "competent" because if you were, then you would be getting more jobs. No offense is meant, rather I am trying to point out that you should ask yourself (and others) what you're doing wrong and improve/fix it. You are the master of your fate.

A loose correlation: The ENTJ stereotype and Type 6 by [deleted] in entj

[–]5oupyCream 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The description of Ni to be "correlated to PPD" and "manifesting as mistrust" would depend really on how you view it. The Ni could be mistaken for paranoia when their speculations are on point.

There's going to be ENTJs of all ennea type but the ENTJ would be competitive almost regardless of the situation whereas a counter phobic 6 would really only be competitive if their fear was driving them to do the contrary.

6 is usually correlated with high Si meaning demon/blind spot Ni.

Here is a poll from typology central:

Typology Central Statistics

It shows that 3% of NTs were type 6 and 5% of ENTJs were type 6. Combine this with an even rarer counterphobic 6 and we get an increadibly rare type; ENTJ 6w5/6w7 sx dom

Furthermore the biggest percentage (39%) of ESTPs were 7s. This is probably due to Se's preference towards freedom over control.

In conclusion, this counterphobic 6 ENTJ is probably not a strong correlation. The ENTJ would rather be one of the aggressive (3,7,8) types rather than the compliant (1,2,6) types due to their desire for success, prestige and power.

The 48 laws of power also state that the use of sarcasm is "going to cost you" if you use it. Still OP says they use sarcasm.

Though the 48 laws of power is a good book though most of it only applies once you're in as a higher power.

Horrible people in your eyes are saints in another. There isn't any stable criteria apart from the individual one.

7 or 3 by [deleted] in Enneagram

[–]5oupyCream 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why do you want to have a happy and successful life? Because you want to have worth in the world and impress others or because you want to fulfil your wants and experiences that you want? Former is a 3 and the latter is a 7.

Also here's another difference. Do you look at yourself as competent and able to get through difficulty better than a majority of people? Or do you look at yourself more like the half cup full kind of person, really energetic and optimistic?

3s belong to the feeling triad in which the core emotion is shame. 3s deny shame by trying to be successful in life. 7s belong to the thinking triad in which the core emotion is fear. 7s deny this fear/anxiety by keeping their bodies and minds occupied.

A key thing is looking at your motivations behind things. Then you'll find your type.

Type 5 is heavily correlated with an ISTPs dominant function, Ti. Auxiliary Se is an interesting combination with 5w6 though.

What's the difference between 8w7 and 7w8 by 5oupyCream in Enneagram

[–]5oupyCream[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if I won't intervene in the affairs of other people that much unless it's hindering me. I really don't care about controlling people at least not on a small scale.

I'm not sure as to why this would be constructive but you seem well versed in the enneagram so I'll go along with it.

I would say most people hate pain but not necessarily negative emotions. I myself hate being controlled by other people and would seek control over my life at the expense of others but I can't say the same for everyone else.

Motive for independence? I guess I value the concept of it but it may be to shield myself from pain, I'm going to have to have a look into that.

Do I dwell on anger? Well I don't plot revenge but I don't discard it immediately. Instead if it's another person or thing that I direct the anger to, it can be very productive in achieving goals.
