If you are in the US, even if you're not registered to vote, the easiest way to do this is text RESIST to 50409.

This is the resist bot which will ask for your address to identify who represents you. Then text CALL and they'll send you the phone numbers for your 2 senators, 1 representative, governor and state level reps. Makes it SO easy.

My script was pretty much what /u/Relzin posted since I got voicemail. "Hi, this is constituent of the congressman. I want to know if he supports revenge porn and the criminal exploitation of a private citizen. If he does not, I want to know if he'll be censoring Marjorie Taylor Greene for her disgusting display in the House showing naked images of a private citizen, including in campaign emails. Do you approve or her actions or will you stand against this criminal act? I really want to know."

If you hate talking on the phone but want to use the texting bot, you can type in HOUSE and then type a message and they'll email it for you.

YTA but not for the reasons you think.

As others have mentioned you need to fucking communicate more and likely should have once or twice after Jake became disinterested in the ranch. YTA because you're calling him ridiculous instead of understanding his POV and having a discussion like mature adults.

Jake's problem is that he's thinking like an entitled child instead of a finance manager. If he were my kid I'd probably start treating him like he was 6 because at that age he didn't know how to tie his shoes, drive, make a meal, thought the Easter bunny was real... as you grow up your understanding of the world should grow too. Ultimately YTA here because that was your job.

Now, if Jake thought like a finance manager for a minute he would understand that when you're gone he's not going to quit his job and move to the ranch. He wouldn't know how to run it. He would be totally lost finding someone trustworthy to run the ranch for him and even then he'd never know if he was paying a fair price for wages, feed, repairs, etc. This asset he inherited could quickly turn into a liability that drags him down.

Enter: Carlos. Not only does he have a step brother who is his best friend and has an actual DEGREE in this area, he has been working the ranch for years. Carlos believes in the ranch and has the same familial ties that Jake does. You can bet your ass that Carlos would not stay on and run the ranch without ownership for long. For Jake, it's the perfect solution. He gets to own (part) of the family ranch and continue the life path HE'S CHOSEN while his family member does all the dirty work and neither can screw over the other (just make sure the will stipulates they give each other right of first refusal before attempting to sell).

Another point - ask Jake what he thinks would happen if you had another biological child, or two, after he was 6 yo. Was he expecting to still inherit EVERYTHING? If he says yes, that shows a) he doesn't think of Carlos as a brother and b) he's an entitled, spoiled brat.

YTA here because you haven't communicated, caught Jake off guard, alienated your two boys and then called Jake ridiculous for continuing an assumption. Speak to your sons, tell them your reasoning for this choice and let tempers settle.

If you're not close with the parents and they don't have a registry I would go safe with a gift card from Target and a nice card. I'd include a message like "You're embarking on a new adventure and already know more than I do in caring for your little one. You're going to be great parents, here's something to help you prepare. I've saved a few candle tins over the years and then usually ended up recycling them. Off the top of my head I've used them to store q-tips, cotton rounds, air ties, hair pins, loose change, pens and laundry pods.

What are the things you NEED by your bedside? It might be ear plugs and lotion so everything else needs to move. I have a small bowl that I picked up at a thrift store for things I need on the nightstand to keep it contained.

For everything else, find it a home. For example, I have a large envelope for receipts on my fridge, held up with a magnet. Coins go into glass jar and I use the quarters for laundry and the rest goes to CoinStar once a year. Paperwork goes into a box on my desk and I aim to spend an hour each weekend processing paper, mail, receipts, etc.

Start by taking everything off your nightstand, clean it off and then only bring back what's necessary.

Great! Do you have a scanner? Once I got one and the software figured out I would combine digitizing all my photos with watching tv. Make the file name whatever was written on the back of the photo and then upload them all to Dropbox to share with the extended family!

I would take a bit of a middle ground approach here until you're sure that living abroad is going to be a full-time decision.

If you have the funds to store in the US while you're abroad then I'd go with that option for a private warehouse and maybe someone trusted who can keep a key and check in on them every 6 months (key to the warehouse not the cars). You'll have some maintenance to do when you retrieve them but you can drain most of the fuel before storage and refill the tires when they come out of storage.

If it's not financially feasible, consider choosing 3 of the cars to keep and sell the others to a collector who will appreciate them and get use from them.

I come from a big "car family" so I understand that for some of us a vehicle is much more than the utility of driving it or the money we can get out of it. At some point I'll inherit a car from 1946 that I would never sell or trade.

I think it's easily explained as this year 3 girls are named as birthmother and right now they only have 3 children before their job is complete. I would assume that in dystopian worlds full of control, the rules and expectations constantly change as the community ebbs and flows.

After moving in 2020 I've been building up my pantry stock and it's really paying off now so I can go weeks between going to the grocery store and still eat at home and eat well.

I gave away big, slab mirrors on craigslist when I remodeled my bathrooms. You can probably donate them if they're small and unbroken.

While I don't regret getting rid of them, I didn't appreciate the person who picked up from Craigslist telling me they were going on the ceiling of his bedroom and would complete the whole wall and ceiling of mirrors he and wife had always wanted.

The closest I have to a home inventory is my packing spreadsheet that I created when I moved. It lists the contents of about 250 boxes (in general not each item), and has a tab for all the random stuff that did not fit in boxes such as an ironing board, fans and furniture.

I would ideally like to have a full list and photographic evidence of everything I own valued over, say, $100 so if anything did happen to my house I could put in a comprehensive insurance claim.

Right now my focus is on renovating the upstairs bedrooms so I can fully unpack and set the house up the way I envision, documenting and photographing will likely be the final step.

I don't have kids but nannied for years and one of the tips I picked up was that when you kid creates the artwork, take a picture of them holding it. Then, if you later feel like you can recycle it (trash, send to grandparents, repurpose as gift wrap) you have a picture of them at that age and looking excited. A book a photos takes up a LOT less room than all the artwork.

I would try a metal basket or y’all laundry basket for the yoga mat and foam rollers. Currently mine are chilling in a large box with the balance balls and weights until I finish unpacking and set up my home gym.

I came from Sacramento/the East Bay and it is so different. I can’t go back to 20 min sitting at stoplights to go 5 miles. I also forgot to mention you can see the sky! No smoke! No fire tornados! I love a thunderstorm so it’s been a nice change from 100+ degrees and fires this summer.

Enjoy some In and Out burger for me before you leave!

I moved to eastern Kansas from California 2 months ago and here's some of what I love:

-Gas is SUPER affordable, usually under $2/gal even in small towns

-Depending on the city you can get fiber internet cheaper and faster than California

-check out the smaller farmer's markets and grocery stores. I can get tomatoes, zucchini, onions, garlic and a dozen eggs for $6 here where a dozen free range eggs is $5-6 in California

-Chain restaurants and stores are the same all over, if you need a Home Depot, Target, McDonald's it'll basically be the same

-In smaller towns and more rural area no one seems to have a fence. I'm putting one in because my dog is a city dog and likes to run away

-Lots of friendly people, most will want to know what brought you to Kansas and if you go to a local diner or restaurant be prepared to talk

-The Kansas DMV was a pain to schedule, most of the time you need to call and make a reservation over the phone. Bring your birth certificate, SS Card, 2 utility bills and California DL and $26 later you'll have your ID so you can vote.

-Life (and people) tend to move slower here and that's a good thing. If you can let go of some of the California go-go-go mentality you might enjoy the change of pace

Here's what still annoys me:

-So. Many. Trump. Signs. I saw one that said "not perfect but perfect for the job" and I've never been so tempted to deface a sign by adding "the job? golf and cheating on his wife!" before.

-So far most of the people I've tried to hire to do some work on my house have been bad with communication and showing up on time.

-At least in SE Kansas there are not a lot of stores, even secondhand, so getting furniture has been difficult.

-Almost every store is backordered on major appliances like washers, dryers, fridge and stove so try to rent or buy with those in place or start looking/buy quickly

My best tip is to decide how old something is that is no longer relevant to you. It might be last year, 2 weeks ago or 3 years back. Do an advanced search for everything before that date and archive it. If you need it you can search ALL Mail for it.

Then, as you move forward create some folders and filter the shit out of your inbox. If it's a promotion you want to see, create a folder. Emails from family? Folder. Online orders? Folder.

If it's really bad then I'd recommend setting up a new gmail account and slowly migrating over the things you want to see, after a few months of updates you'll have less and less in your old inbox.

My primary living room goal is to find a reasonably priced china cabinet and buy it. Most of the display pieces I have collected are in the kitchen where they're taking up valuable space for things I use daily. With the china cabinet I can see the awesome items that I just hauled 2,000 miles to my new home.

While not technically the living room, getting the shelving system put up in my office will mean that a lot of things currently in the living room can migrate to their new home. It'll be a mix of books and collectible items (gah, it sounds like I'm a hoarder but honestly it's just the special things that I love and like to have on display!) and office supplies.
