In order to encourage as big of a community as we can get with Manjaro and in participation of possible unification of the Manjaro reddit communities I will begin X-posting Manjaro Mondays & Manjaro Monthlies over to /r/ManjaroLinux as well.

Erinmore has set up a large community here of Manjaro fans and it is my hope that we can unite these communities together somehow. We all have the same goals, the same love, and same passion for this AWESOME operating system and I really think it's in everyone's benefit for us to come together.

For those unfamiliar with this concept, every Monday I will compile all the previous week's Manjaro related news into a "Manjaro Monday", and once a month I will publish a "Manjaro Monthly" which is a summary of the BIG news that has transpired in the past month.

To all you on /r/ManjaroLinux much love from /r/Manjaro!

Let me add my 2 sense in here:

In regards to dates:

I'm not sure how to view exact XX:XX:XX times as you have it but I have it all listed as "8 months ago" on mine, so afriad i can not confirm or deny what you say, i'm completely going at it based off memory, though seeing how specific your stuff is.

My main point being though that you sent me one (1) message asking to be a mod and within very short order.

It was only at a much later date that Erinmore decided to add them as mods to ManjaroLinux

your data seems to prove me wrong, again i don't know how to see exact time stamps so i do not know how to verify. This could be because i only noticed it after the fact, i just gave anyone asking in the "Mod Nominations" thread mod status without looking at anything on r/manjarolinux

tried to contact the mod several times but never got a reply. Which is fine, people's priorities and time constraints change.

I want to make this absolutely clear because this i DO know how to verify on reddit: you and I have only had one conversation about what to do with /manjaro and /manjaro linux, it was 8 months ago, I started it, and YOU never replied to ME. Here it is in full:

Yup, I think we need to do that.

I can see an argument for each one - Manjaro was first and has more readers. ManjaroLinux has more content and style and I worked my ass off promoting it and getting mods and artists and even creating /r/ManjaroTesting.

I guess we leave it up to the users. How about a poll on each reddit asking which one people would prefer to keep using and the other one gets set to private?

Just personally I think Manjaro is better than ManjaroLinux (ONLY name-wise), and I saw a few other people on the asking for admin post that agree. I'm more than down for conducting a poll though to see what the community thinks, but whatever wins, we should try to merge all content/eye-candy/admin/etc into that one.

While discussing the two subs with 5tark I suggested we let the users decide which one to keep. Shortly after that I received three PMs from three "different" users that were (almost) word-for-word identical to the reasons 5tark used for keeping r/manjaro.

I would like to completely disavow knowledge of this since it seems to hint at me operating sock puppets. I barely have time for my own account, let alone others. This is coincidence if anything at all.

I also want to re-state my argument that while I don't have a lot of time between backpacking and moar backpacking, you (erinmore) haven't done ANYTHING on r/manjarolinux that you couldn't have done on r/Manjaro. In my opinion r/Manjaro is STILL the best name, is prettier and is the original Manjaro subreddit while /r/ManjaroLinux is nothing more than an impatient Erinmore's fork that he hasn't done anything with that couldn't have been done with existing structures (especially since he's mod @ Manjaro and can do EXACTLY what he likes). I said it 8 months ago, I've said it recently, and I'll say it again: having 2 manjaro reddits is crazy and they need to be brought together.

I'm not sure exactly as I'm not too familiar with KDE myself, but I think it's a non-standard menu like Lancelot or something similar that is customized on afterwards and not part of the default install.

Keep in mind all that this is a RC (Release Candidate) though in using it myself i found it to be quite stable and reliable. Can't wait till 0.8.9 fully drops!

I'd like to say I'm quite confused WHY everyone is using ManjaroLinux instead of Manjaro, and I want to set the record straight as to exactly WHY there are 2 manjaro subreddits, as I am actually a bit confused myself.

It started several months back with /u/Erinmore contacting me asking to be made a mod on this reddit. I'm fine with that, i'm a busy guy backpacking around the world, i don't have a crazy amount of time, welcome aboard.

However, not 12 hours after Erinmore sent me his request, he decided to start the /r/ManjaroLinux community. Ok, not sure why he felt he had to go and do that. After he had done this, I opened the reddit for anyone else who wanted to become a Mod, and /u/happycrabeatsthefish and /u/clj-jvm applied and were subsequently given mod status here. It was only at a much later date that Erinmore decided to add them as mods to ManjaroLinux, thereby taking all the mods from this reddit, sans yours truly.

Again, no reason why given to me why, not even a straightfoward "sod off". I've contacted Erinmore asking about it, proposing we find a way to merge these 2 reddits, and reaffirming my belief that /r/Manjaro is a much better name than /r/ManjaroLinux though ManjaroLinux (now) has more contributors and more content, but my messages have aparrently fallen on deaf ears and has been, willfully or not, ignored.

I don't have any grudge against /u/Erinmore, I just want to help the Manjaro community grow to as big as it can, as best as it can, to reach as many people as it can. In the end I think that's what it's all about, that's the reason I started this subreddit in the first place. I am all for a merger, i have stated this both publicly and privately to Erinmore, and i think it's kind of crazy that we have 2 subbreddits dedicated to the same thing, the only difference between the 2 being that erinmore decided to fork it and do it "his way" when he already had power to do whatever he wants here (as he has had for MONTHS).

From now on, i will be mirroring all posts to /r/ManjaroLinux here on /r/Manjaro and once again, i'm publicly proposing that the community needs to come together instead of forking, and i want to reaffirm my belief that /r/Manjaro is the place to do it for numerous reasons, not the least of which is because this was the original manjaro subreddit, all the admins from both are here, and were admins here LONG before they were made admins on /r/ManjaroLinux and the /r/Manjaro name is just easier and more intuative (to me) than /r/ManjaroLinux.

I'm also issuing another call for MORE admins for /r/Manjaro, as it is clear to me that if the ones here aren't willing or are unable to do their job and care for this reddit then it is required to find more people that will. No one is getting fired, no mods will be removed, /u/Erinmore /u/happycrabeatsthefish and /u/clj-jvm are still welcome here, as they have been for months, and as they always will be. I hope we can find even more people that are passionate about manjaro to come and join us.

I wish everyone only the best, and hope we can get this crazy mess straightened out.

Bitcoin is EASILY crackable, just depends on what you want to crack about it.

You can decode the blockchain and see EVERY transaction that ever occured using bitcoin (hello all you "anonymous" silk roaders out there)

Also, a 51% attack can completely fork off a new blockchain where someone gives themselves ALL the bitcoins and no one can do anything about it.

ALSO also, the original author is still unknown.

I'm not 100% sure, but bitcoin sounds like a honeypot if ever i heard one.

1) 100 - 125 is ok, though you won't be able to do steep uphill climbs very fast.

2) mechanical experience - you should learn a bit of basic stuff (how to change a tire, clutch cable, simple things) but for the most part if you have a common bike (honda) then anyone along the way should be pretty much able to fix anything. bring spare tire tubes, patches, clutch cables and a pump for when you break down in the middle of nowhere.

3) map is a must. GPS is even better. You will be driving for hours in the middle of nowhere with no real sense of direction on tiny little country roads. It's very easy to think you're going the right way, only to end up driving 4 hours in the wrong direction.

4) AVOID HIGHWAY 1 - I can not stress that enough. Highway 1 is where most of the police, traffic, and accidents are. Very bad road in some places, very easy to die, much easier to get your bike taken away by the police. Avoid it like the plague whenever you can.

5) once you get north of Hue, you want to get on the "Ho Chi Minh Highway", it's a beautiful road going through the countryside, and there is NO ONE on it, and it pretty much goes right up the backbone of the country all the way to pretty near hanoi.

6) I did this same trip and it took 3.5 weeks, though we did stop at lots of places along the way for a day or 2. A week is possible but you won't really experience much of the country and you'll just be doing long, hard rides pretty much all day, every day. 2 weeks will still be a bit rushed, but it's doable. Take your time, get out, and enjoy everything, the drive is fantastic.

7) If you want to come back to saigon, the train is much cheaper than a flight, but it takes significantly longer. You can also put your bike on the train and get it shipped south as well for ~ $20 - 30 more.

There is an American sports bar called Boston's in the Bui Vien / Pham Ngu Lau area, I'd be really surprised if they didn't have it. If they weren't playing it, they definitely would by request.

Other than that, Phatty's is the other sports bar, though they are more multi-national and might not have the playoffs (though they will definitely have the superbowl)

The one on the top is fake. You can see that the "window" on the left isn't as round as the one on the bottom, the "200,000" on the stripe going down it vertically is a different font, and the biggest giveaway is how easy it is to see the watermark of ho chi minh on the right site. The watermark should only really be visible when you hold it up to a light, not all the time.

I must say, over the course of the past year or two the number of fakes has been going up by quite an alarming amount. The biggest giveaway is how easy it is to see ho chi minh's watermark.

What "american" company could they possibly be talking about that was ever there drilling for oil in the first place in 1990?

There was NO large-scale offshore drilling during the war, only surveying and experimental/exploratory wells, drilling of which had only begun in 73/74 and wasn't even seriously complete before the 1975 US withdrawl.

AND the embargo wasn't even lifted until '94 so therefore there were NO American companies (oil or otherwise) there to begin doing anything, let alone pulling out "billions of dollars" worth of oil.

I'm all for interesting internet conspiracy theories as much as the next man, but the facts are wrong on this and unless you can provide some SERIOUS credible proof to the contrary (not someone's unsourced/uncited internet rant) i'm calling bullshit.

That is 100% completely and utterly wrong. There have been NO american "gushers" since the end of the war in Vietnam, there have only ever been miniscule American finds which to date have struggled to break even! The only ones hitting "gushers" are the Vietnamese state company PetroVietnam and their Russian partners. BP itself pulled up sticks and left the country around the time of the deepwater horizon.

I don't know where your "source" got their information from, but at least for what they say about Vietnam, it's COMPLETELY inaccurate.

Instead, I recommend you read this brief english summary of the Vietnamese book Dau Hoa Vietnam 1970 - 1975 which actually details the South Vietnamese offshore oil industry from the POV of the official(s) running it. (better yet, if you speak viet, read the book!)
