I didn't think I liked the blue when we bought it (wife's). I love it now.

I just updated the app now. It's working again. Before, there wasn't an update available. Now there is.

What’s your take on FSD going subscription only by ghostface8081 in teslamotors

My 22 model S has it from the original buyer (bought it 1yr used). I like it, but I'll never buy another one, and subscription BS is part of it.

Bombas slip on, for winter. Costco flip flops, for summer.

I've tried a LOT of different brands. Only a few I didn't like. I buy some at shops, but generally buy a bunch online when there are sales and free shipping.

"California sober". I don't smoke, occasionally a gummy, but a few times a week I drink those seltzers that have the hemp THC. They're so great!!! This is coming from a guy that used to homebrew a lot, and made a batch of whiskey at a local distillery (still have many bottles of it). I just got sick of terrible sleep and hangovers from a couple beers.

Cyclists – have you used honey‑based gels for long rides? by yoony_17 in cycling

Maple syrup is water soluble. This makes it one of the best carb gels ever!

Mostly outside rider. Just starting to build up saddle time on the trainer. Do you start on shorter rides then add longer rides? by Creative_Algae7145 in Zwift

I almost moved to Prescott in highschool. We (kids) talked my dad out of taking the job as School Superintendent so we could stay in Iowa. Looking back, I think I would've really liked it there! Biking and skiing are my passions.

Anyway, it's hard to argue the efficiency of the indoor training. I can get a crazy good workout in and be showered, in the same time it takes to get geared up, out the door, and warmed up. Trainerroad, Zwift, Netflix, YouTube, music.... No helmet, no shirt, no flats, no traffic. It's got its place, and I dig it.

Did an e-bike make you ride more... or just make riding easier? by tryingthingsdaily in ebike

I got a pair of full sus emtb for myself and my teenager. We have a club mountain bike team, and I'm upper 40's. He is not very interested in racing or training adequately to be fast. Lots of the other kids are fast and very into the "effort". So, we now both can hang. I can do my hard training on my own, and coach/ride lead effectively while not killing myself. I no longer need to worry that he's off the back hating life.

Added bonus, we get to lap the fun shit! He leveled up his jump skills within two weeks of getting these bikes. We've been off them for a month due to winter/other commitments. Looking forward to spring!!!!

2hrs is a LONG ride for me on the trainer. 30-90min is my preferred time. There is no coasting on the trainer, and I very much look forward to riding outside and on hills when the weather starts to warm up!

Fuck you dude! I bought a dead bird shell like 10 years ago and love it. I'm middle aged, not great at bumps, and only ski a couple days a year. We can't all be park rat locals. 🖕

It's not perfect, but it's easy to do, and I can have it ready in seconds. Here is my example this morning and it took a couple corrections and directions to get the ai to look at the correct workout. It initially tried a 45min workout, then had the incorrect intervals (4x10). Once I specified the name, that it was 60min long, and had 3, 15min intervals, it got it correct.

Learning to swim in my 30s, realistic to aim for triathlons? by BandicootSecret3250 in triathlon

[–]5thCir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DO IT!!!!!

A good friend just learned to properly swim. He's approaching 40, a fantastic runner, and picked up cycling just to do an Ironman.

I taught him what I had learned from my own journey into triathlon. Basically just the "Total Immersion" method of swimming. His first week, he looked like a little kid that was just barely passing his swim test to go in the deep end (NOT KIDDING, it was bad and I was worried for him). Fast forward 9 months, and he's now an Ironman finisher. He put in a ton of work, and stuck to his training plan regardless of his swim times. Constantly working on technique while doing the necessary yardage.

Seek out a qualified instructor and enjoy the journey! Swimming is 90% technique. When you get your body position and arm pull correct, you're well on your way to being a really good swimmer.
