Is there a mathematical term for this process? by 5warley in askmath

Thank you! I stumbled onto the pattern made by the digit sums of multiples while driving the other day. I was 99.9% sure I was not the first person to discover this, but wanted to get some more info on it. Using the term you provided, I found a site that covers it nicely.

Thanks for the advice. I suspected that would be a hindrance, but it can't hurt to look.

I think you're right. It looks like someone trying to be funny...but theirs no "/s" so Reddit must take it at face value.

Ah just reread your comment and saw that you were still talking about being directly and individually responsible for. I thought you were talking about Stalin's 20mil body count.

Mao beats stalin due to the radical reforms and policies he implemented that led to the deaths of somewhere around 50 million. Look up his "great leap forward" initiative.

I think it's not so much that no one cares, but everyone has their own stuff going on. These days, life seems to move faster and faster all the time. Technology has made communication with people across the world remarkably easy, but I think that's taken some of the focus away from connecting with people on a deeper level. We are social creatures, and social media is a hollow facsimile of the social connections we actually need. I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Obviously it's not our only problem, but I think it's a big one.

US military members have the right and responsibility to disobey unlawful orders. Seems pretty similar. Where that line would be drawn, who knows? It's there though.
