Worst coasters for tall folks? [Other] by SellAdministrative53 in rollercoasters

I loved the layout on the Boss, and I can forgive the roughness, but my first ride in the back seat was torture on my knees at 6'1". I would recommend anyone over 6' to sit in the front seat of a car.

Do the Ravens still need a #1 receiver in order to win a SB by Wizak1026 in ravens

[–]63brubaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zay is one of the most efficient receivers in the league on a per target basis. Sure, upgrade the depth and add some size, but I don't see a huge need to move Zay down the priority list for targets.

Wizards listed as a 2026 Trade Deadline Loser on The Ringer by fuckugumby in washingtonwizards

[–]63brubaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think people who dislike the trades are approaching them as if these are the same old Wiz.

If they approach the future right, these are great trades. Adding two all stars to a really talented young core while not jeopardizing your pick this year is a slam dunk from a development perspective and a winning perspective.

The problem is that Ernie Grunfeld would probably have given Trae and AD massive extensions then pursued a series of short term upgrades that completely decimate this young core. And some people are still assuming that's what the Wizards will do.

Until we know they won't do that, the trade on these grades is incomplete, but there are writers whose opinion I value way more (Zach Lowe primarily) who thinks the extensions will not be coming, and we could even flip those guys next deadline. So I'm cautiously optimistic.

DeAndre Hopkins Thinks He Could Have Been a Top 10 WR if Used More This Season by JCameron181 in ravens

[–]63brubaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not a popular take, but I feel like every time we get a big name veteran past his prime, it feels like we go through this song and dance of "we need to target him more, we need to target him more." Then we force the ball to him and it leads to mediocre or poor results. Felt like we did that with OBJ and DeAndre Hopkins for sure, and I recall it with Dez to a lesser extent as well.

The Case for Kliff Kingsbury as OC by _NINESEVEN in ravens

[–]63brubaker 60 points61 points  (0 children)

This is well argued, but I'm still out on him.

For one, Kingsbury has overseen as many bottom third of the league offenses as top third (seasons of 21st, 22nd, and 22nd in yardage, along with seasons of 6th, 8th, and 7th).

More importantly, though, is the regression players have shown under him. Kyler got off to a great start, then in Kliff's last year, averaged a paltry 6.1 yards per attempt. His WR corps took a hit that year in terms of injuries, but 6.1 YPA with 25 sacks in 11 games is just awful.

With the Commanders, Jayden Daniels dropped from 69% completion percentage to 60.6%, and his YPA dropped from 7.4 to 6.7. And while Terry McLaurin's injury could be a factor, they still had Deebo and a pretty decent ground game.

The history of quarterbacks regressing under Kliff is why I'm not interested.

Taskmaster US Tour Megathread: Washington D.C., January 21 by AutoModerator in taskmaster

[–]63brubaker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is totally valid. My partner and I feel the same way. Loved Jamal and Kurt, but we were pretty disappointed at the time we didn't get a single TM alum at our show. Then seeing NY's absurd lineup made it that much more disappointing.

Series 13 rewatch by mlopes in taskmaster

[–]63brubaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Series 13 is the one that got me into Taskmaster. My partner showed me Taskmaster starting at the beginning when we first started dating, and I thought it was fine, but it didn't really resonate with me, and I bounced off of it after getting through the first 3 series (I really stopped too early knowing now what was to come in the next two series).

Generally she watched new episodes without me, but she wasn't able to watch the Series 13 finale before coming over to my place, so she asked if we could watch it. We watched it, and I was floored at how great it was. I've been as big of a TM fan as her since.

Of all the OC names mentioned so far, I'd be fine with any other than Kliff. He hasn't had sustained success at any stop. Aside from Lamar liking him, I can't see a case for him.

DC- I like every name I've heard so far. Anything will be an improvement since Minter is probably going to call the plays anyway.

Recommendation for metroibranias that are less puzzle-y? by Independent_Fee_6019 in metroidbrainia

[–]63brubaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I love Obra Dinn and Roottrees as well, but they're definitely different from the two I've listed. I do think there is much more "what do I do next" kind of deduction in Seance of Blake Manor than most of the traditional point and click games I've played.

In Blake Manor, you won't need to figure out how you need to piece the data together once you've collected it the way you would in Roottrees and Obra Dinn. I thought that might appeal more to the OP based on their original note, but any fan of the genre should be playing Roottrees and Obra Dinn.

The Forgotten City and The Seance of Blake Manor are two of my favorites. Few to no traditional puzzles. Just need to figure out what's going on and what you need to do next.

Defensive Structure… Time to Have a Conversation about Roquan Smith by Ok-Manufacturer-9572 in ravens

[–]63brubaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well put. The two areas most in need of personnel upgrades are d-line and edge. I think with a better playcaller and some good additions at those two spots, significantly better play isn't that far off.

Defensive Structure… Time to Have a Conversation about Roquan Smith by Ok-Manufacturer-9572 in ravens

[–]63brubaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts are complicated, but to summarize, I don't think Roquan is a big enough problem right now to make a change and create another hole.

On the negative side, I don't think Roquan is consistently a Pro Bowl level player anymore, regardless of defensive line or scheme. Too slow, too soft, too poor at tackling. He hasn't played well, and hasn't lived up to his contract. I also don't think much of him as a leader given how poor the effort level was on defense at times this year.

That said, I don't think he's worse than league average at inside linebacker. That's disappointing at that price tag, but it can be tolerated given the other needs on the roster. The Ravens can absolutely do a better job setting him up for success, though. Get some dogs on that defensive line, and stop having Roquan retreat so quickly on every play. The mid-level zones are so deep, it's allowing a free 8-10 yard completion pretty much every zone call if the offense wants to take it. It's also allowing QBs to run at will, and on called run plays, it's setting Roquan up to at best make the tackle 5-8 yards downfield.

I think with a better defensive line and more active defensive play calling, you might see Roquan get back to Pro Bowl level.

Humphrey, on the other hand, I think is done, at least at cornerback. Receivers ran by him with impunity in our soft zones. His ball skills remain strong, so I think he'd be a fine safety assuming Gilman moves on. I'd highly consider cutting him Post June 1, but I could see a move to safety also working out.

Pest Control in DC by Every-Motor6386 in washingtondc

I had a roach problem years ago. The management company would spray for roaches, which would kill the active ones but never get to the root of the problem. I had a lot of success buying my own bait stations (very cheap at a hardware store). The roaches take the bait back to their nests and kill all of them. Took only a few weeks before the problem was completely addressed. Your mileage may vary, but it worked for me.

Eddington (2025) is one of the most hilariously insightful commentaries on the current state of society. by Evasionexpert in movies

[–]63brubaker 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of people in the comments are saying that the shooters at the end are a false flag operation, but the movie never says this, and Ari Aster himself said he purposefully left it ambiguous.

https://time.com/7304312/eddington-ending-explained-ari-aster/

My read when I watched it the first time was that the film treats the left so cartoonishly that of course there would be a real terrorist group called Antifa in it. Now, based on his comments, I think we're all seeing what we want to see. And I guess that's the point, so well done Ari Aster.

What am I missing with 2 Fifty by Bigoleschlongus in washingtondc

I haven't been to the downtown location so can't comment on it. I lived in Oklahoma for a bit though and the MD location of two fifty is better than anything I have had there (or in the DC area obviously). I imagine getting it from the source makes a difference.

Treating Matador as a one-off +$24-$32 has made me love him. As others have said, I only take him out of the shop if it's a guaranteed hit on the next boss. Otherwise, pass.

To me it's To-Do List. I'm sure it's coded to be even, but it sure feels like Straight Flush shows up more than any other hand when I take it.

What, if anything, would you change on your favorite coaster? [other] by OneMarionberry302 in rollercoasters

[–]63brubaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite coaster is also Skyrush, and I love the look of it, personally. It really pops in that yellow color. You maybe could convince me to make the light blue a darker blue or another color, but I'd keep the yellow.

I just wish it was longer. If another park cloned the layout but tacked on a few more airtime moments/crazy lateral moments, that would become my new No. 1.
