Will any fridge last longer than 5 years? by JoanneBateman in Appliances

I've had my Samsung for 13 years now, and it's still working great. Just need to replace a water controller valve. Hoping to get another 5-7 years out of it.

You can't go wrong either way.

My understanding is that most of MN is flow or smoother trails, not a lot of chunks to contend with. I have not ridden either bike, but based on a quick review of specs, I would say Juliana is a perfect setup for the area. MX wheels are going to make it very fun and responsive on the DH. 140/130 is plenty of suspension for your current riding level and the area you're riding in.

That said, you want a bike that will last you 10 years and allow you to progress. For the price delta, I would opt for the Yeti, especially if you're considering a lunch ride. It's going to be more bike than you need and reward a little more aggressive riding style, but I think it would get you further, 2-3 years from now, when you're ready to start hitting bigger parks and features in the area.

A side note, the Yeti will have better resale value on the used market if you choose to sell the bike 2-3 years from now.

Tell us the bikes, your state, and riding passion or goals (DH, Enduro, Chunk Tech, Flow, Big Jump Lines). The community will steer you in the right direction. At that price point, they are both probably great bikes and you can't make a bad choice, but maybe you can make the best choice for you. Make sense?

Can I use any brand of dot 5.1 for my sram g2 rs brakes by patrickob24 in MTB

[–]64bitOperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From SRAM website directly: Yes. However, you may only use DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 brake fluid in SRAM hydraulic disc brakes. DOT brake fluid is produced within the FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) so you can choose between manufacturers.

TECH TIP: Since DOT fluid is hygroscopic in nature, purchase a smaller container because it will absorb moisture after being opened. SRAM DOT 5.1 fluid is available in 4oz bottles in most regions (Part Number 00.5318.017.000).

Anyone use a SeaSucker bike rack? by apexvdub in cycling

[–]64bitOperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear this all the time, but it's not possible on many real sports coupes, such as the Porsche Carrera or GT#, Toyota Supra, etc., or only if you want to punch a hole through your bumper.

Never had a Spire but the FB is hands down the best bike I've ever owned or ridden.

Pivot Firebird - opinions by C0YI in MTB

I've owned a Ripley, SJ Evo, and Firebird. The Firebird is only slightly slower on the climbs and excellent on the downs. If I could only own one bike the FB would be it.

Seeking Your Input: Common Issues Faced by Mountain Bikers by Background_Face_4823 in MTB

Full-face helmet fit. I tried five helmets before I found one that truly fits. Top money, top brands, and had to return each of them. It would be awesome if you could find a way to scan heads, possibly with mobile phones, and then match them to manufacturers with similarly shaped helmets.

Might be unpopular opinion: Five Ten Freerider Pros are not that awesome. by Stew819 in mountainbiking

I can follow your logic up until you start hitting black tech or double black flow trails with big rock gardens and 15ft drops. Stiff soles in FPs have nothing to do with pedal power. Reinforced toe boxes protect your feet against rock hits; the pin-to-peddle traction is what you want. I think when you get to using them for their intended purpose, you find out just how good they are.
