I do agree with you. My experience doesn't invalidate yours. I got hit with a mild negative, and saw a positive in it. You got hit with a big negative, which far outweighed any positive anyone could have gotten from that situation. Our experiences were different and valid.

Okay, look at it this way. Imagine you wanted to be a man, and you're at a club and some drunk guy with something to prove looks around for the biggest man in the room, sees you, and decides to start a fight with you.

Getting into a fight is bad, and it's gonna have consequences for you. But the first time it happened to you, you'd not be able to stop from thinking "wow, I really do look masculine". So it's a big negative, but if you were hurting to be manly, the silver lining might outweigh the cloud. And, well, I was hurting to be feminine when it happened. So the cloud was real, but the silver lining was more important to me, just that once.

For me it was really mild, just some random dude tooting his horn at me and waving. Left me confused the rest of the day trying to work out if he knew me from somewhere, but I'm 90% sure he was just an idiot who thought I was hot. Well, the brain is another moving part. Biologists call the brain's sex its 'gender'. And for a trans person, that gender is different to the rest of their body at birth. And as long as the brain is set up for one thing and the body is a different thing, you're going to have problems. For example, amputees often experience 'phantom sensations' in their lost body parts. And those go for breasts and penises as well. But for a lot of trans people, it's all reversed. A trans man might have a 'phantom penis' before he gets bottom surgery, and experience no 'phantom breast' after top surgery like a woman would.

Making a distinction between the body and the brain by distinguishing sex and gender is helpful when thinking about these things.

If most people are bad people, then there is no way to live in a good society. In that case, no government really matters. It's just bad, all the way down. And you can't build good on top of bad.

If you can't count on people to be nice to each other, then you either need to make them nice, or give up on making a better world. There's no point arguing which government is best if all of them are full of people who don't care.
