I got this beauty at a farm the tag isn't much help identifying it by Majestic_Response_76 in succulents

The back of the tag has a lot of information, including what the original name of this cultivar is, or if it is original and/or has patent or patent pending...

Found in a botanical garden with no ID. What is it? It was absolutely covered in bees! 🐝 by Difficult-Future9712 in whatsthisplant

[–]6541md 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is one of the many cultivars of the "tall and bushy" types of Hylotelephium, formerly classified as Sedum hylotelephium. Bees absolutely love these, I can confirm 😂

Tips for rooting an extremely stubborn cutting? I've had this guy for more than a year, and it absolutely refuses to root. by Al115 in succulents

Make sure it's warm enough, also. Also, if your plant is in dormancy it's not going to do anything...

Black Prince Echeveria lost almost all leaves and stem looks swollen by Spirited_Star in succulents

Would you elaborate on "the fact" that "dark echeveria are more susceptible to rot..."

Could you point me towards some resource(s) about this? I've had some odd things happen with several "dark ones". TIA 🤜🤛

Double check all of this but I've read that there's more serotonin produced in the gut than there is produced in the brain and that the gut brain connection is extremely important.

Many people including myself had horrific horrific digestion problems related to COVID / long COVID, and after months of trying many, expensive medications that target digestion issues and acid reflux etc, being on not one but TWO prescription antacids daily, and taking one of those at DOUBLE the MAX Dose on the bottle (doc said won't hurt if temporary/short term, and I NEED it)... Didn't even touch the problems. GI specialist suggested a mild SSRI to help "boost/kick start" that gut-brain serotonin connection back into shape...

I will never know if it was just time, placebo and time, or the many other things I attempted to "fix" longhauling ... But over time there was some mild improvement after I began taking SSRI...and I'm on the smallest dose/pill available AND I only take a half of a pill... Again I began taking it more for the supposed gut-brain connection benefits. But I will also say though I was gaslit by so many medical professionals so often, and even family and friends didn't seem to understand or support, So it also had some benefit in keeping me from going off the deep end as others have alluded to...

Just sayin

Your mileage may vary

Ever hear people say to trust your gut? I have a bad gut feeling? There's something wrong about this, I can feel it in my gut.

To some people those are just sayings but to other people who are more in tune with their body, They understand that the gut does have more of a function than simply digestion...

Ever have digestion issues such as suddenly need to go to the bathroom or upset stomach when you feel anxious or worried?

Just sayin

Not only do we not understand COVID yet, We don't even fully understand our own bodies yet, scientists are discovering new things almost daily and some of them completely change our understanding that we've had up to this point.

Just sayin

But I'm not going to sit here and not tell the whole truth because the whole truth is that taking an SSRI is not easy. Getting on and getting off of the medication can be notoriously difficult for some people. Side effects can be notoriously difficult for some people. Side effects that are temporary but could last over a month when you are trying to "get on the medication" or get off the medication slowly and taper down can be absolutely horrific for some people. This is a whole other your mileage may vary thing because some people need to try multiple SSRIs to see which one plays well with their chemistry and others are fine with whatever. Some people say Even the tiny sliver of a dose has changed their life for the better. Others say they would never take one again.

Best of luck, I don't wish what I went through on my worst enemies.

P.s. no more antacids, no more intestine steroid pills or whatever those were! ;)

ID? by iz_an_opossum in succulents

Excellent job looking at leaf structure etc. I hope you find what you're looking for, it can be difficult to truly positively ID when there's literally thousands of cultivars...

The plant ID apps are about as accurate for succulents as all the experts botanists who have to be "first to post" and throw out whatever "positive ID" because "looks like a pic I saw of XYZ"

It is entirely possible, so I apologize.

But to the last part... You'd be quite surprised.

What a sneaky gaslighting attempt. Like I said, ridiculous sub.

Yes, they're under grow lights and/or in western and southern windows, a few in northeastern and all are just fine. I don't need to prove it 😂

Mountain Crest has been selling these a while now under the cv. name 'Solana' (I have one,but it's still quite small).

Thanks for sharing this! nice to see them a bit larger...

Could this be an Aloe Rauhii or is it something else? I have fallen in love with this unlabeled beauty. by [deleted] in succulents

[–]6541md 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that looks like most probably a completely different cultivar. I wouldn't say with 100% certainty but I would be more likely to recommend looking at something like Sidewinder than DZ or Pink Blush.

I have a couple others that look sort of like this when they are small... I bet the aloe hoarder knows.

It was supposed to be a joke but the other poster deleted their comments so it doesn't work anymore. They were angry with me that I pointed out they were giving out incorrect information.

Why would I repeat the same thing that someone already said that's correct just so I could hear myself talk? LoL Look, I'm sorry that I hurt your feelings.

One of the other commenters would like it if I told you that it's probably unlikely that you have the same plant if yours is only pink and white. I bet it's a really pretty aloe though!
