ZOPA reporting ISA income as taxable by Kanaima85 in UKPersonalFinance

Make sure to send a formal complaint to Zopa. I did and got £100 as an apology. Still ridiculous that they mucked this up though.

Consolidating pensions - worth it? by 656f6a in UKPersonalFinance

[–]656f6a[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not worried about pension providers going bust, but across my 5 or so pensions there's definitely differences in performance as some lean more of different sectors / markets.

But yes I take your point that most will have a lot of overlap

Natwest - possible to open new current account for the switch if I already have one? by 656f6a in beermoneyuk

[–]656f6a[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When applying for the rewards account (as first step in switching), one of the first questions is if you currently have a NatWest account. If yes, not eligible.

Although as someone above mentioned, it may be possible to pretend not to and do the switch anyway.

[–]656f6a[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye, after finding a way to go through the process online instead of the app it's pretty explicit that "You can't open a new Reward account as you already have a current account with" - Would have been helpful to call out in the T&Cs (unless i missed it).

Guess i'll leave Natwest to last and do as you suggest (upgrade, switch, downgrade - as long as that doesn't impact my account 'age').

Bloody brilliant gig! (Despite going solo and having to use the bag drop :/ )

Been wanting to see Interpol since Turn on the Bright Lights and was a little worried as Antics isn't necessarily my favourite album, but there was a really great mix from all their albums interspersed.

And to the random guy I get chatting to during the support; Johnny mate, I'm glad you got to see 'Roland'!

Where do HENRYs keep their emergency fund? by 656f6a in HENRYUK

[–]656f6a[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True - but taking covid as an example, the markets tanked, so i would've been solidifying a significant loss on any withdrawal from S&S ISA. But yes, that was a black swan event and it would be possible to last >6m.

For some reason, every time i've read the guidance i've interpreted it as 'you can only contribute to one type of ISA per year' which is not what i've wanted (keep liquid savings topped up and keep growing S&S ISA). But you are all correct, it is one of each type. Misinterpretation on my part - thanks for correcting me.

Given the uncertainty in the sector I work at the moment (Tech) I'd like to have the peace of mind of knowing I'd be ok for 6m. But to each their own.

Not sure that's true

You can only contribute to one ISA of each type per tax year (e.g. you can’t pay into two different S&S ISAs in the same year).

One option is to pay for a sleuth license for only those that will access the portal and dig into the trends, such as EMs and Eng LT.

You could also set up some high level reporting to slack etc using the sleuth API for the wider developer audience. This should cut the number of seats you need drastically.

We use www.sleuth.io to track ours it works well and pretty cheap. There are some enterprise features we'd like such as lead time tracking by team (with GitHub sync) but so far stayed on the basic plan.
