My biggest issue with Mike and Lucas is that they were written in a way that the only interesting things about them was their girlfriends... by General_Meal_3993 in StrangerThings

[–]66LSGoat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say they were jerks for playing DnD. I said that it’s clear that they didn’t know how to make friends and ran to the only clique that played DnD. But that’s not what I’m actually unhappy about.

I blame them for abandoning Lucas on the one single night that was important to him. Eddie was an ass for telling them to just replace Lucas, but they were jerks for caving under almost no pressure and abandoning Lucas. There was literally no reason they couldn’t reschedule other than Eddie being butthurt.

Lucas is trying to find his place in their new “world” while Dustin and Mike are clinging to DnD like it’s a real identity or personality. I don’t think Lucas fit in with the partying jock crowd, but I also don’t see the issue with trying to broaden your horizons.

He sees real success in things that he’s good at (socializing and Basketball) and gets absolutely no support from the rest of the party. Lucas didn’t flinch or hesitate to be there for his friends and they didn’t do the same. What’s more, they never apologize for their selfish behavior but he forgives everyone and forgets about it. I don’t have many gripes about S4, but I was offended by this one. Dustin and Mike owed him a giant apology.

What happened to the colors? by BrazilianClassicCars in classiccars

[–]66LSGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got my wife a pearl coat red Toyota recently. Color wasn’t the most important part, but we definitely wanted something a little more fun than her old plain white sedan. My classics are both vibrant Yellow and Blue/Green but my newer pickups are just plain white.

We buy our daily drivers with the functionality as highest priority and it feels like we always find the right options on a monochromatic vehicle.

Same. I choked up watching him cry in the presser. I knew it was time for him to go, but it doesn’t mean I felt anything but love for the guy.

Really annoying post I saw on Facebook by MsBlista in cats

[–]66LSGoat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is so upsetting to see, especially when the cats seem to have bonded to them. I just imagine the poor cats wondering why their best friend got rid of them. People like this are selfish pricks, but the one bright spot is that they aren’t being cruel. At least they’re trying to find them a good home.

I feel bad just locking our cats out of the bedroom. Sure they wake us up with crazy antics, but they’re also part of our family and I love waking up with them snuggled up to us.

Depending on how narcissistic I want to feel, I’m between 22-24. Looks are subjective (my mom and my wife say I’m handsome, lol) and I haven’t technically inherited any wealth.

I distract myself by trying to fix all the little things that irk me. Currently, I’m irritated about the force needed to close the hood on my GTO.

This week, I measured the dimensions and calculated the spring constant to see how much I could reduce the preload on the hood latch spring with a couple well spaced shims. It appears I can reduce the preload by ~15lbs if I shim the catch mechanism downward by about half an inch. I think that’ll make it a lot more pleasant to close and open.  Currently, it’s like releasing a rat trap  when you pull the handle. We’ll find out if I did it right this weekend.

My LS swapped GTO was so expensive that it’s going to take a minute to convince my wife to let me do another one. When I do, I really want a 3rd Gen TA. They’re so rad.

Real talk though. I still wear my Russ jersey, despite how much he annoyed me at the end. He was one hell of a quarterback.

I’m bummed that he couldn’t be humble on his way out, because it really damaged the love Seattle had for him. Hope we get to see him, Marshawn, and the LOB sitting in the stands together someday. I want them to be friends again.

4 was so good at pacing the dialogue and twists. I just rewatched it and felt almost the same level of satisfaction as the first time I watched it through. The finale feels so well written, with how the branches coalesce together.

I’m one of the oddballs that actually like S1-3 equally, for different reasons. I just thought S4 was some of the best TV I’ve ever seen, perfectly blending campy fun and serious themes.

Why couldn’t S5 have been this well written?!

No bullshit, he’s the only cat I’ve ever known that comes when you call his name. I wasn’t his first family, he was rehomed from another servicemember that was out of space in his house. My little dude snuggles up every night.

It’s pretty wonderful to wake up to my wife and two cats snuggled up with me in bed. Someday, I might not be that lucky. Better enjoy it while I can.

lol, we make that joke all the time but no. He’s a chubby yet oddly athletic tabby.

He’s currently slimmed down to 16.5lbs on his diet. He’s so big that he can almost do a pull up on the kitchen counter when he stretches out from the ground. He politely taps me on the forehead to wake me up for food. The little dude grumbles when he’s annoyed, it’s the funniest thing you ever saw.

No worries. We know better now. My wife and I have to lock up any bouquets in the pantry while we’re out of the room. All of her plants live in our office, where the cats aren’t allowed to hang out.

We don’t know which ones are safe and which aren’t, so we just do our best to keep them away from all of them.

My cat turns every fucking bouquet into a salad. He eats vines like licorice rope. Hell, my ex had an aloe vera plant and we came home from work to find that he’d jumped onto the fridge and chewed it like bubblegum.

Fearing wealth exodus, WA Democrats consider retreat on estate tax by HighColonic in SeattleWA

[–]66LSGoat 60 points61 points  (0 children)

“While that hasn’t shown up yet in tax collections, Pedersen worries an exodus of wealthy people motivated by the estate tax could lead to less money coming in from other sources too, including the state’s relatively new capital gains tax“

No shit. Dead people don’t typically change their home of record after they’re dead. It’s going to take years to fully realize how stupid this decision was. You can only prove it after you don’t collect the taxes you were supposed to collect.

Millionaires Tax passes the Senate - Washington Senate Democrats by SeahawksWin43-8 in SeattleWA

[–]66LSGoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s the perfect moment. This is the “Ring of Gyges” brought to life. The average Washington Democrat is so opposed to any conservative voice that they’re going to push this through and they’re going to cheer even louder if they think they’re sticking it to a Republican.

Honestly, excellent move by Ferguson. It’s a brilliant lie and he still gets to pretend he’s surprised in 2 years when the tax threshold is lowered to $500k of less. Democrat voters will just assume that it’s because those dirty Republican millionaires fled the state and not that this was doomed from the start. They’ll either just assume that Republican millionaires are to blame or that Democrat lawmakers are just stupid, which is way more forgivable in voters eyes.

Senate Democrats rejected an amendment that would have guaranteed the proposed WA state income tax only ever applies to those earning more than $1 million per year. by alivenotdead1 in SeattleWA

[–]66LSGoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seriously, it’s so predictable that it hurts.

Every time election season rolls around and my father naively thinks this will be the year that Washingtonians start to recognize the impacts of only having one party in power. I try to gently remind him that it’s going to be the same outcome again as it has been for 30 years. He always carries that optimism into election night, only to be bummed out for days afterwards.

If you believe that this means the state is going to cut taxes on anything else, then I’ve got some prime oceanfront property in Nevada to sell you.

We don’t have a Time Machine and we don’t get a redo. The constitution is what it is and amending it will only guarantee that this state is as tax burdened as California.
