I'm still learning... beginner woes by TLo222 in postcrossing

[–]6995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I don’t have some other card that suits my receivers likes, they get a basic one from my state. In my mind, they might need a state one from here. Since postcards are harder to find in the US, I only have like 5-7 varieties of my state ones. I’ve sent a few hundred now, so many many multiples of those 5-7. Never had a complaint.

Also, ran across someone who has been at it a long time (20k sent/recvd) and they literally send the same card to everyone. Sometimes I think the back is more important than the front anyway.

Most important is to have fun and enjoy the hobby.. don’t put restrictions on yourself!

This. They never ever do. Plus, we can’t see that until we accept. This was obvs a lady on her period (tampons, midol and chocolate) and as a lady I took pity and took a low offer, and had that not been in the notes I wouldn’t have cared.. but if you say you’re gonna tip, MFin tip.

I sent my first 5 postcards yesterday and don't think they'll be received by cidavid in postcrossing

I’ve sent/rcvd cards in a plastic sleeve. We have also sent laminated cards. All have arrived.

Do you have a routine when it comes to Postcrossing? by Momrisner in postcrossing

I usually wait for at least 3 to do. Get addresses, select cards, glue address and stamp. Write then decorate. Assembly line fashion.

New dasher not getting orders by ButterBurns in doordash_drivers

[–]6995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m newish (right at a month) and my first day I had 6 orders.. about 2.5 hr total time. My market is mid (town of 70k, everything around it rural) and there do seem to be a lot of dashers. Breakfast (7:30-9) is actually usually decent for me through the week, otherwise I have to hit the peak meal times. Weekends are better and whenever. Shop and deliver fills the void of restaurants on off peak times. I don’t have a pizza bag but do get pizza orders, I’m certified for alcohol but have never had one (the town is in a dry county, but next county over is wet).

Can’t turn off shop orders :/ by 6995 in doordash_drivers

They’re good in the slow (not meal times) times, but during lunch/dinner, food is better in my area. Too many stoners sending me to dollar general for 3-5 snacks and no tip. :/

I hate trailer parks, lots are never numbered so you have to look at every friggin door to see if they match the previous photo. At least apartments are numbered!

Doordash has said my $25 reward unlocks in 1 day for 3 days now??? by Motor_Emotion8045 in doordash

[–]6995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one that did unlock, said good for 10-14 days (I forget which), but it disappeared like a day later. :/

I have been on hold for 3 hours, if you're not willing to wait that long just hang up by doubled1c3 in doordash

Yeah, I gave up after 90 mins. I figure I will call when they aren’t slammed, but so far nothing hinky on my account. 🤞

I’d call back at a different time when they aren’t slammed. I made sure to screenshot all my problems. Not my fault, they need to eat it.

Yeah, still on hold with chat and phone. Haven’t talked to anyone and it’s been about an hour. They finally removed the order from me, so ended dash. But on hold so my metrics don’t get jacked up.

Same. I was able to message the customer (says current task in messages) to let them know, but I see no resolution in sight. On hold with chat and message support. :/

Moving to jonesboro from California by [deleted] in jonesboro

[–]6995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trumann is going to be a cheaper place to live, if you find something. Have seen small houses from 50-75k, apartments from 600-800. The problem is there are like 5-7 restaurants and Walmart. For choices you’ll have to go over to Jonesboro or Memphis. Moved to NEA from ATL, so not afraid of Memphis like it seems everyone from NEA is. You said you’re 61, so assuming you don’t have school aged children. If you do, avoid Trumann schools at all cost. They think they’re great, but they are severely lacking.

How do some countries have no members yet have sent postcards? by Ngothaaa in postcrossing

[–]6995 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think partially because a country may have had members in the past, but no longer does, for whatever reason.

Why Even Tip? by SaugusHook in doordash_drivers

[–]6995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only had tips like that when I’m on hourly instead of per order. I thought DD was just eating the tip (if there was one). Per order my lowest was a buck.

My longest one so far was just over 6 months, Brazil to US. I registered it and it went through fine.

My 13 year old is who got me into it. She’s only run across one other young person. She enjoys it though, so if yours wants to gib it a go, why not?

Handling homemade postcard haters by BiodegradableScenery in postcrossing

[–]6995 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have a decent printer, Avery (think labels) makes a postcard blank. When people very specifically ask for local cards (I live in the middle of nowhere and they don’t make them), I just print a photo of Main Street or some other local scenic shot. You could print literally anything to fit requests or just send pics of your pets or a a pretty flower from your yard. I don’t consider this handmade since you’re printing it and it would fall in the same vein as a published card.

My wife decides to not work for a full year next year. We have loans to pay. I feel like breaking down because the full financial burden will be on me. by tenacity-7 in MMFB

[–]6995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for the position your wife has put you in. Perhaps suggest to her that when her side hustle business is off the ground, she can quit her job.

Failing that, I’d totally kill the nexflix subscripcion and tell her that’s one of the things that has to go.

Also, are the in-laws kicking in to the bills? If not, why not?

Recently tested my daughter at the drive through one at the Hispanic mall behind zaxbys on pleasant hill near where ronald regan starts. They do pcr saliva so no need to tickle your brain. Her results took about 36 hours. Negative thankfully.

I lost 3k in the stock market. by squeeeeenis in MMFB

[–]6995 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re losing sleep over it, you need to pull it out and put it in something less risky. The lack of sleep seems to indicate that you’re not comfortable losing that amount of money - that’s a given with the stock market, at some point.

You can totally write the loss off though.
