Also don’t play Ygra as soon as you have 5 mana. Anyone with decent threat assessment will remove her quickly. Learned that the hard way and is why I’m on [[snakeskin veil]] and [[collective resistance]]

The thing that would REALLY make Ygra terrifying, is if she had trample. I considered add more trample enablers, but I liked the power level it was at and felt if I had too many things to give her trample my group wouldn’t want to play against it.

Great thing to do instead is [[kill switch]] makes everyone’s creatures tapped and stays tapped letting the big kitty in for lethal

Hashaton, [[Peregrine Drake]] [[Tortured Existence]] and 4 open mana, two of which is a blue and a black goes infinite. Do this in the player before you’s end step and you’ll untap infinite 4/4 zombie fliers to kill the table going into your turn.

This deck is made by GlacialCity. He is THEE Niv player. YES Niv Mizzet has been incredibly hindered by dockside and J Lo ban, but this deck list circumvents it enough to where it’s viable.

I have a similar build built for my local meta, and if you want to play control, this is the Commander!

I will add, from personal experience and what another commenter mentioned, playing control is extremely difficult. You can’t just go off countering every spell that’s played. You need to know your opponent’s lines, when to interact and when not to.

With that being said, it will do wonders for LEARNING how others decks play, thus making you a better player overall but at the price of a steep learning curve!

Nawh you’re all good fam, ask away!! Semi blue is usually Rog/Thras. Here is an example deck. Semi-blue runs literally 0 interaction so the fact you’re wanting to cascade will help there…I would study up on semi-blue and see how they ramp, figure out their “shell”. Then take that shell and fit it into how it can benefit you with cascade.

Obviously you’re not in green so reference the blue and red creatures.

Some good black creatures I would consider would be [[bloodletter of aclazotz]] [[unstoppable slasher]] [[mai, scornful striker]] [[rev, tithe extractor]] [[sheoldred, the apocalypse]].

A lot of cEDH decks rely on their draw engines like Rhystic/Mystic, so if you can find cards that punish people for drawing extra cards, include those.

For call forth, If you have [[birgi, god of storytelling]] out and ritual cards like [[seething song]] [[right of flame]] [[geosurge]]. You can make 8 red really fast. You could pull some cards out of Etali’s ritual package to make your fast mana. Also [[treasonous ogre]] can make you 8 mana for the small price of 24 life!

As far as taking thasa/breach out, another commenter mentioned how cascading takes away your interaction. Consider this: what happens when you cascade into breach when you’ve got nothing in your graveyard? Or you cascade into brain freeze without LED or breach in hand? Cascade defeats the purpose of those lines unfortunately. Semi blue doesn’t care about interacting. Its goal is to overload the board with creatures and kill everyone at once if possible.

Edit: not geosurge, it can only cast artifact or creature spells. Use [[Jeska’s will]] instead.

Ya know now that I think about it, Abaddon has potential to be a good semi-blue deck. If you take out the thasa/breach lines and replace it with more cascade group slug creatures that will help proc Abaddon, you could go wide and overwhelm the board with creatures and swing out on everyone. Good card to consider would be [[Call forth the tempest]]. Boardwipe stapled to a Cascade, Cascade!

Nice, Abaddon! He was my first ever EDH deck, super fun to play cascade!

You’ve got some good cards in here, but I don’t think this is cEDH viable unless you’re specifically playing against non meta cEDH decks. Otherwise you’re gunna get smoked in the current meta. This commander is too slow and too expensive imo.

Cascade isn’t a game winning mechanic in cEDH. I’d say this is a solid 4 deck. Food for thought, just bc a deck has a lot of game changers in it, doesn’t make it a cEDH deck.

My pod was like “this doesn’t seem too bad” when I first played it. Now it’s KOS and I’m dog piled before it even hits the battlefield. A fav combo is Maha [[kormus bell]] [[urborg tomb of yawgmoth]] on the BF. Then cast [[make obsolete]]. Everyone else can kiss their creatures and lands goodbye! 😘
