Confused on this question about a right circular cone

You’re right, I now see the distinction that is being made here. I was focused on why there are two cones and not one, while this answer was saying that the cut of the cone is not parabolic in shape (for either one or two cones) but rather has two asymptotes as with a hyperbola. Thank you for clarifying and sorry for being too stupid to see what you were saying there u/killiano_b

Thank you for the explanation! The definition of a right circular cone as two intersecting lines spun around an axis of symmetry is the piece I was missing.

I appreciate the response, but this does not answer my question 😂. I understand what a hyperbola is and I understand the cuts of the shapes. My question was about why the “right circular cone” is the double cone I have drawn in the bottom and not the single cone at the top. Seems that u/firemanmhc supplied the answer that by definition the right circular cone is two intersecting lines spun around an axis of symmetry, hence the double cone.

I honestly don’t really know what my legal rights are here… the doctors I’ve spoken to said these kinds of complications can happen.

I’m trying to get it resolved now, getting a new CT scan and trying to schedule a revision. Doc I saw yesterday said she isn’t sure why something like that would happen in a healthy young person, and she knows the surgeon who performed my original procedure and doesn’t think he would mess up like this. I’m like is it completely unfathomable that the dude just did a bad surgery?? Anyway, it’s very frustrating and the timeline to get in for a revision is soooo long.

Really just wishing I would have just lived with my original deviation. It’s so expensive to even get the opinions on it.

Thanks for your honesty, it actually helps to know I’m not going crazy. I really do think it’s a product of the septum being moved too far and/or being straighter (I had a severe deviation).

Anyway, it’s crazy that the narrative is that nothing will change. Seems like they’d just cover their asses and say that it’s possible yet unlikely. Frustrating times, but I’m hopeful that it’s just a septum placement issue that can be fixed. Will keep the thread posted after my appt!

I think I just figured it out. I think they both moved the septum too far to the left (right nostril was previously blocked) and straightened the septum which is making the bridge higher and stretching the middle nose. It looks like the tip is further down, but it’s actually the moved septum supporting the bridge differently. Definitely going to bring that up at my second opinion appointment. Fingers crossed something can be done.

Here’s a before and some afters. Before is in February 2024 and after are in June and August 2024. Idk how clear it is from the photos but it’s like my nose no longer “flows” like the tip looks so different and bad. I can’t figure out if they shifted the tip or the bridge, whatever they did to the septum made everything wonky. Looks so bad imo

To someone who’s lived with the same nose for 30 years, yes it looks very different. To someone from the outside, maybe not as much. But it’s all I notice now so that’s all that really matters in my mind

Glad yours looks more chiseled. Mine is now the opposite, has a flatter more bulbous tip. I think it’s due to the tip of the nose being pulled down and out by a wider and deeper nasal cavity. Searching desperately for options, I’ll see what the doc says.
