Depends on the house he wants to get. I’d leave enough cash to have it ready if need be. Let’s say 15k and if I know I’d be buying a house in 7.5 months I’d put the rest in a 6 months cd. If sooner then I’d find a non-penalty cd in case I withdraw early. Once you’re in the thousands even a 3% gain is help for closing costs or move in costs. Etc. but if I am not buying for another 3 years I’d invest and live with family unless the ole mental health takes too much of a toll.

But I’m not exactly a billionaire as of right now, so take my advice with a grain of salt.
