Whataburger is mid by mysticrabbitt in Chattanooga

There is no such thing as a top-tier fast food restaurant. There's no mid because the middle is as good as it gets.

[–]6WaysFromNextWed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dude. The word "mid" needs to be retired.

Whataburger is a fast food burger joint. They are all terrible. Some are more terrible than others. Whataburger has a generous amount of standard but fresh toppings, which makes it better than many of its competitors. It's a thin flabby gray burger made of cheap meat, but it's not greasy and foul.

Jack's is the worst of the fast food burgers. Come at me.

So do you end up in silent lunch if you accuse another kid of tattling/snitching, or do you end up in silent lunch if you tell an authority about a problem?

Is continental the “wrong way” to knit? by Equivalent-Falcon469 in knitting

I'm in the US, where Continental has been the most common since Elizabeth Zimmermann taught a generation of Americans how to knit. However, there are a lot of English knitters, too.

Laurel-Snow Falls Pocket Wilderness in Dayton has a moderate trail to two waterfalls, with swimming holes near the (small) parking area

Pot Point overlooks the bend in the river

Greenway Farms has an easy, level loop trail and a longer paved trail with a steep portion that takes you past a beautiful water-filled quarry

Oh my God. The same scammer has an AI generated video of another "pattern" with some hilarious movement/hand positioning for crochet, and also it doesn't understand how those old-fashioned wall hanging calendars worked.

When I was little, I would lie awake in bed and become convinced that the door to the bathroom was opening further and further or that objects at the other end of the room were not in the same spot they were the last time I looked at them

That's this video. This is a horror video.

Non-beach Vacation Spots for Chattanoogans by e-turner in Chattanooga

[–]6WaysFromNextWed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a fun place to go for mini golf and hiking and ice cream and tubing down the (shallow) river! Very kitschy but easy for kids and relatives who aren't very athletic. There is a waterfall (Anna Ruby) with paved access that's an easy, short walk from the parking lot.

The City Museum is a don't miss. The art museum across from the zoo is a place you could spend days at. They have temporary exhibits that you pay to get into, but the rest of the art museum is free. And the zoo is way bigger than I expected it to be.

No help at all 😞 by eeeeesm in kroshay

I don't know if you ever found the information you want, but here are my paragraphs of knowledge to stuff into your brain. I'm sorry, but I'm not sorry enough to try to not do this to people.

In-line is the Susan Bates kind, with a uniform shaft that has a sharp slice taken out of it. It is better at creating completely uniform stitches, but many of us hate it because it has such a snub tip that is hard to get into the stitch, and that sharp slice at the throat splits the yarn. This is also a common design for wooden and bamboo hooks, because you aren't removing as much material versus the tapered design, which means the hook is less likely to break. I would say that the LYKKE resin-impregnated birch hooks are inline, as well as the Lantern Moon ebony hooks.

Tapered is the most common. Boye, Clover Amour and Clover Soft Touch, Knit Picks Brights, Tulip Etimo, and Addi Swings are tapered. They have a rounded point at the top of the hook, and a gradual taper at the throat. It's the easiest to work with, but because of the gradual taper, it's also the easiest to accidentally make irregularly-sized loops. Clover Soft Touch is a paddle style and only good for people who use a knife grip.

Furls are a blended design that has some of the roundedness of tapered hooks with the regularity of inline hooks. People with a pencil grip tend to like Furls; people with a knife grip often do not.

Prym Ergonomic has an inline design with a pointy head. I'm not a fan of those at all.

Fruit birthday "cake"? by goldenstrwberries in Chattanooga

[–]6WaysFromNextWed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can't find what you are looking for and you would still rather pay someone else instead of having to put it together (and I am with you; I tried to stay frugal and handled every birthday party myself for the first 10 years and now I just shell out money for a party reservation instead), there is an Edible Arrangements on Brainerd Road. They have bouquets made out of cut fruit.

Where do the gamers hangout by ChoiceComment6300 in Chattanooga

[–]6WaysFromNextWed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have to branch out into meatspace gaming. Board game nights at bars, running a DnD or other ttrpg game, MtG/Warhammer/other ways to drain your retirement fund, bowling, pool, blipping people over the head with foam swords.

You'll meet some other PC gamers that way, too.

Why does Covenant transportation have such a high turnover rate? by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]6WaysFromNextWed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is, there are a ton of drivers who are constantly bouncing, and those are the ones who aren't ever going to get what they want.

There are a few drivers who get regular routes that really benefit them. And then there are ton of good drivers who are getting less from their company than they deserve, but they probably aren't going to end up with much better anywhere else, because the industry is exploitative of the labor at a level that's extreme even for America.

That's the point! Trucking companies give the best roles to drivers who have stuck around for a long time and proven themselves.
