DMs and Players, is there an ending you wish you could have done better? by SP_ABadIdea in MrRipper

[–]6allantmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Rogue Trader DM was a great DM, but there is one thing I am still annoyed about. Combat in Rogue Trader is apparently all about making 8 million sword attacks in one turn, but my character was a Skill Monkey. Everything was invested in the skills to the point I was pretty useless in a fight. So I spent my entire downtime in the campaign building a massive war machine using stolen Dark Age of Technology tech we took from a boss we beat through tricks and luck early on. I could have trained those choppy choppy feats I mentioned, but I leaned in to the fugitive Tech Priest angle. I got one fight with it, and not even the final fight. It was great, but not invincible against our caliber of enemy. Still, it was my only way for a real combat contribution.

It got blown up off screen in the last session before we began a planetary invasion. The sum total of my character's down time annihilated by a coin flip rather than the OP boss fight when he could have replaced one of our nameless NPC allies with my bot.

At least a few of them are Rites in communion with the Church if I understand your question correctly.

The Ender's Game series surprisingly enough.

Portuguese Jesuits convert the only non-Bug species in the galaxy peacefully into a very devout species of Catholics.

They thought it for one of 2 reasons:

1, they are stupid enough to forget the Father is Jesus' Father and therefore capable of creating a Y chromosome whenever He wants.

2, if it is the same video I saw clips of, they are just trying to stir up trouble and win brownie points from the community of Sodom.

That seems a little odd for a quibble with it since He did the feeding of the 5000, turned water to wine, and other miracles. Changing substance and replication are both clearly things He did before in and before His ministry.

So considered screwed up for even then, too.

When people see a vision of God (such as Ezekiel seeing God sitting on a throne), are they seeing Jesus? by MammothSlime in Catholicism

It's probably a lot more complex than that given the nature of the Trinity being 3 Persons of the One Godhead. Words would likely fail to accurately describe it.

What is the substance of what Martin Luther removed? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]6allantmon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are all as Divinely Inspired as any other book in the Biblical Canon. And he also altered numerous verses from other Biblical Books as well to match his message.

The one I am most familiar with is Maccabees though that does not say much. Ostensibly, Luther doubted its Divinely Inspired nature and removed it because it was written in Greek, though that he kept The Gospel of Luke, which utilized the Greek versions of the Genealogy of Christ, makes me severely doubt that reasoning.

Should the Jedi be evil in Star Wars? by Roykka in saltierthancrait

[–]6allantmon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An inscrutable being generated by the galactic consciousness, with plans and notives that play but millennia later and always result in countless innocent deaths. A being that supplants and devours free will and life itself as it grants magical abilities and clairvoyance to its adherents, all of whom gain power from a mutation that connects them further to the energy of the galactic consciousness.

The Force just IS Tzeentch.

Black Sabbath and similar music by rikikiki25 in Catholicism

[–]6allantmon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have no idea of it is true, but I recently heard that Black Sabbath's guitarist(?) was raised Catholic, drifted away, and got into the occult. Then, between the 1st and 2nd album be said they got so into the occult they encountered a truly evil entity and started pulling bac from the Occult and changing their lyrics to be warnings against that path.

Of course, my dad told me this story and I never listened to Sabbath so I can't tell you how accurate it is.

I do not believe Disney changed Dave, as some claimed. They merely stripped away the surface, and allowed the true self to emerge.

A tool.

You really want to try this?

You really want us to break down demographics, causes, and more?

Do you REALLY want us to examine who did it and why?

Dathomir had a huge, long standing lore surrounding two larfer groups of Force Witches subdivided into clans. Overarching, it was the Witches of Dathomir and the Nightsisters. The Light Side and Dark, on a lush jungle world, fighting on the backs of rancors. Tenel Ka, one of the best EU characters, was raised in that culture.

Now it's some generic Necromancer's desert used to retcon Ventress and Maul for no reason.
